ODROID has its own utility and downloads the update package from ODROID download server and perform the update in recovery mode. It's not like OTA served by mobile carrier but works as much as necessary.

can you please elaborate on that ?

can I refer it to my servers ? (I assume it's an open source application)

did you connected it to a backend server that is used to update a large quantity of devices (Hawkbit for example)?

Android for ODROID-N2, it has a custom utility ODROID Settings which does customize some features such as display resolution and CPU frequencies. The update is one part of this application, please look into the code for the understanding.

By default, the server for update image is hardcoded to https://dn.odroid.com but you can change it from the application before checking an update package. Hardkernel's update method is not like other OTA server, it just scans the update package and download it to the device and run recovery mode with the downloaded package to proceed updating.
