@zyssal, I tried to install the alpha code above, but the zip doesn't contain an image, just some files. I am woefully ignorant of how to boot Android, but would I be able to just copy these files to a single ext4 partition on the eMMC module?
https://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/S922X/ODRO ... 25.img.zip download the file from this link.
You have to extract the .img file from the zip file and burn the .img file to eMMC with rufus or etcher.

My whole point being, there is no .img file in the zip.

I downloaded from the link you gave. I just downloaded from the link in this very message, and that one has the image. I will try to install it later today.

@voodik rtc battery problems resolved. Battery support have broken pins, I couldn't check that before because N2+ was integrated to dashboard, I disassembled it today.

Hi, I tried out the selfinstall-odroidn2-lineage-19.1_alpha-0.2_20220525.img.zip image today and it progressed pretty far but then ultimately ended up on a purple RECOVERY screen with a "Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this" error message at the bottom.
Start by flashing first release (alpha 0.1) and then update to 0.2 with Odroid Settings Update app

Code: Select all

https://oph.mdrjr.net/voodik/S922X/ODROID-N2/Android/LineageOTA-19.1/builds/full/lineage-19.1-20220523-unofficial-odroidn2-signed-alpha-0.1.zip
If there were an alpha 0.1 self-install image, I know I could try that, but for some reason there's only a 0.2 self-install, not 0.1.

There is both a 0.1 and 0.2 under builds/full/, but I don't know what to do with them. I downloaded lineage-19.1-20220523-unofficial-odroidn2-signed-alpha-0.1.zip that you referenced, but it doesn't contain an image file. Unzipping it results in a handful of .img, .list, .bin, .br files and a META-INF folder and an install folder with some scripts that I don't know what to do with. I've never installed hardkernel android from something like this, only from a self-install image. How do I install from a "full build" zip file?

Hi,
Firstly - a truly excellent job here voodik, Android 12 on Odroid rocks!
Second - two questions, both of which could be a limitation of AOS 12:
- For some reason I can't get the screen saver to activate. It's set to clock, charging or docked. am I missing a setting? - or does it not work with the new Android lock screen implementation? (I can 'manually' activate it - but that's it).
- Apple music app had me stumped for ages - it didn't show up in any of the stores (play, aurora etc). Finally I stumbled across a message (using direct link to play store from Apple) informing me that the App was incompatible with this installation. Fixed by directly downloading the .APK for the app and excepting warning. I don't actually need a fix - as it's now working, but thought I would point it out in case it's a bug.

Thanks again!

Hello,
I haven't installed this ROM yet but I'm eager to try it.
Does this ROM support signature spoofing?
Usually I prefer to use vanilla ROM +microg as an alternative to gapps and microg needs this function.

Is an atv image planned?

Thanks for the work.

In the Android Trust settings page it says SELinux is not enforced, Is there a way to make it be enforced?
Newbie here, sorry if this is a dumb question, and thanks a lot for the Android 12 image :)

You can enforce it on Lineage-18.1 version. I fixed lot of Selinux denials on it but not on Lineage-19.1.
Fixing Selinux on each new Android version took very long time.

@zyssal @voodik, can please explain how to test alpha-0.1 when it only exists as a zip under builds/full/, not an image in builds/selfinstall/?

(0.2 isn't working for me, so @zyssal suggested to try 0.1)

Hmm, no I didn't even try to flash the lineage-19.1-20220523-unofficial-odroidn2-signed-alpha-0.1.zip. I know balenaEtcher supports compressed images, like .img.gz and .img.xz, since it can just uncompress the image before writing it, but how would it know what do do with a zip file that contains several files inside it?

Oh well, since you brought it up I went ahead and gave it a try. Surprisingly, it actually "worked", however it finished in less than a second, which is way too fast. Looking at it here it looks like what it did was pull out the first img found inside the zip, which is a 19MB _recovery.img, and wrote that.

Do you think writing a 19MB _recovery.img will get me up and running with Android 12? That can't possibly be right. Also, I went ahead and tried to boot it and not surprisingly, nothing happens.

Odd. I can use the hardkernel android release with ethernet no issue, but I'm not getting anything on it with this version.

You are somehow doing it all wrong!
First, understand that there are two (2) types of zip compressed files used for flashing. One is only for fresh/first installation and the other type is only for OTA (Over The Air) update. This second type cannot be used for fresh/first installation.
First type for fresh/first installation has only ONE xxxyyy.img within zip archive. You should unzip it to get the xxxyyy.img and then burn it to your installation media (recommend Balena Ether)
Second type used for OTA update has usually 2 folders and 11 files within zip archive and this file should not be unzipped. Just copy the OTA update file to some location accessible from your android installation and use built in update application do the work. This type of file cannot be used for fresh installation!!!

I am using emmc. When I try to boot the 0.2 selfinstall image, it appears to be working fine at first, showing the "Updating system" or whatever at the bottom and I think it reboots once or twice, but then after a few minutes it ends up on a purple RECOVERY screen with a "Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this" error message at the bottom.

I can share a screenshot if it helps.

Hi,

so far everything works fine on my Odroid N2.

However, I just found that after turning on the CEC service within the Odroid settings I can‘t adjust the volume anymore via my remote. This happens after a reboot and is gone after turning the setting off and rebooting.

Any ideas?

Best

I do have an RC remote plugged via usb dongle.

The TV remote doesn’t work at all to control the n2 as no CEC is running.

Only volume control doesn’t work. The rest is fine.

I installed LineageOS with the intent to use it as a simple kiosk via the web browser, however I am experiencing 2 issues currently.

1. The device does not save it's rotation (it is attached to a vertical TV).
2. Kiosk mode doesn't seem to do anything when enabled.

Basically I want the device to boot and open a single app in kiosk mode (so full screen with no distractions).
I currently installed F-Droid and am using the Fennec browser as it performs better than the built in one.

Any ideas on how to save the rotation and get the kiosk mode to launch the browser automatically upon booting?

Hello voodik,

have installed LS 19.1 on my 32 GB SD Card against the warning.

Ran great. But then I did the following. After I installed VPN Express and changed the location and enabled root mode LineageOS no longer finds the LAN :o . I can't get on the internet anymore. Do you have any tips? Have root also disabled and looked again but did not go. Would be a shame to throw everything down again and reinstall.
Sorry to bother you but I see that you were able to install this os from an SD, is it still working fine? Did you solve your LAN problem?

I installed LineageOS with the intent to use it as a simple kiosk via the web browser, however I am experiencing 2 issues currently.

1. The device does not save it's rotation (it is attached to a vertical TV).
2. Kiosk mode doesn't seem to do anything when enabled.

Basically I want the device to boot and open a single app in kiosk mode (so full screen with no distractions).
I currently installed F-Droid and am using the Fennec browser as it performs better than the built in one.

Any ideas on how to save the rotation and get the kiosk mode to launch the browser automatically upon booting?
I just suggest use Lineage-18.1 version instead of this. This version development just stared and lot of things not working yet.

On lineage 18.1 kiosk mode should work and you can set default rotation and android boots with proper orientation.

just edit /vendor/build.prop and set

Code: Select all

ro.surface_flinger.primary_display_orientation=ORIENTATION_90
or

Code: Select all

ro.surface_flinger.primary_display_orientation=ORIENTATION_270
