Problem running LXC

Unread post by nachor22 » Sun May 12, 2019 8:20 am

Hi,

I'm trying to run some containers on the N2.

I installed

Code: Select all

apt install lxc
then create one

Code: Select all

lxc-create -t download -n prueba_lxc
I choose

Code: Select all

ubuntu bionic arm64
but when I try to run it

Code: Select all

lxc-start -n prueba_lxc --logfile prueba.log
I get the following errors:

Code: Select all

lxc-start: prueba_lxc: lxccontainer.c: wait_on_daemonized_start: 842 Received container state "ABORTING" instead of "RUNNING"
lxc-start: prueba_lxc: tools/lxc_start.c: main: 330 The container failed to start
lxc-start: prueba_lxc: tools/lxc_start.c: main: 333 To get more details, run the container in foreground mode
lxc-start: prueba_lxc: tools/lxc_start.c: main: 336 Additional information can be obtained by setting the --logfile and --logpriority options
and the log file contains

Code: Select all

lxc-start prueba_lxc 20190511230106.712 ERROR cgfsng - cgroups/cgfsng.c:mkdir_eexist_on_last:1219 - Cannot allocate memory - Failed to create directory "/sys/fs/cgroup/schedtune//lxc/prueba_lxc"
lxc-start prueba_lxc 20190511230106.712 ERROR cgfsng - cgroups/cgfsng.c:create_path_for_hierarchy:1243 - Failed to create cgroup "/sys/fs/cgroup/schedtune//lxc/prueba_lxc"
lxc-start prueba_lxc 20190511230106.713 ERROR cgfsng - cgroups/cgfsng.c:cgfsng_payload_create:1321 - Failed to create cgroup "/sys/fs/cgroup/schedtune//lxc/prueba_lxc"
lxc-start prueba_lxc 20190511230106.718 ERROR cgfsng - cgroups/cgfsng.c:mkdir_eexist_on_last:1219 - Cannot allocate memory - Failed to create directory "/sys/fs/cgroup/schedtune//lxc/prueba_lxc-1"
...
...
I've been searching for a while but can't get any solution.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or what is missing?

Thanks

Do you have the directory /sys/fs/cgroup/schedtune/?

Yes

Code: Select all

$ ls /sys/fs/cgroup/schedtune/
cgroup.clone_children cgroup.procs cgroup.sane_behavior notify_on_release release_agent schedtune.boost schedtune.prefer_idle tasks

I was getting this error as well. Based on dmesg output it was an error related to the "schedtune" cgroup. I just disabled it and it seems to work now.

I disabled it by adding "cgroup_disable=schedtune" to the boot args in /media/boot/boot.ini

That worked, thanks xanisfere!

Thanks for the sharing, I would consider to disable the kernel flag to be applied on next update. :)

Glad it worked!

@tobetter, thanks for looking at disabling the kernel flag, from the code it doesn't look like the "schedtune" cgroup supports nesting which is required by lxc.
