H2 totally dead

Unread post by crash2193 » Sun Jan 12, 2020 8:41 am

I purchased 3 H2's a few weeks ago with the hope of developing educational products including active whiteboards and inexpensive kiosks for school libraries. All was going well, but the first unit now is completely dead after working well for 2 weeks, when power is plugged in, no lights at all, no fan. The power supply works on the other units.
It is a simple set up, box, fan, 16G ram, 32 G EMMC and 512G NVMe with a Windows 10 home build.
The 32 G EMMC was not big enough for the windows OS, so it boots from the NVMe.
Any Ideas?

So only one unit is dead, right? There is no red light when you plug in a known-good power adapter?

Can you try removing the emmc, nvme and leave just one memory module? It should boot to bios.
Also remove the rtc battery for 5 minutes (with the power off) and reconnect it. It should reset the bios.

Other than that try to measure voltages on the 10 GPIO pins. There should be a 3.3V/5V pin, see the wiki.

Thanks for the quick reply. There is no red light on the faulty board. No 3.3V or 5 V on the GPIO pins, The power adapter is a known good and works on the other 2 units.
Still nothing with the NVME and the EMMC removed. Does not boot, no HDMI recognition from the monitor, it just looks dead
I have previously purchased more than 50 C2 and C1+ boards and never had a problem.
This is my first faulty board from Hardkernal
How do I arrange an RMA and return?

Please contact "odroid at hardkernel dot com" with a link of this post.
They will help your RMA process if you purchased the board from our web-store directly.
Otherwise, contact your local distributor/reseller.
