H2+ with 7"-Display VU7A

Post by B_Plagens »

Hello!

I have the following problem: I would like to use the ODROID-VU7A with ODROID-H2+.
When the ODROID-VU7A is powered by a external 5V power-supply everything is fine.
But when i power the ODROID-VU7A via a USB-Port from ODROID-H2+ the Display is not detected.

I think the problem is that H2+ is scanning the HDMI-Port 1st and then switching on the USB-Port 5V.
So at "scan" the VU7A is not powered and therefore not found.

Is there any possibility to switch on the USB-Power 1st?

Best regards,
Bernd

We will try to reproduce the issue tomorrow.
Which OS image and kernel version do you use?

Hello,

thank you for the fast response. :-)

I am using a Windows 10 Image.
But even Bios is not visible - so i think this not a OS issue.
VU7A always shows "no signal".

When i use a 2nd H2+ and power the VU7A from this 2nd one it is also ok - so power of USB-Port is enough.

I've checked the issue with hardware engineers.
They told me the USB bus power can't be enabled before starting BIOS post process.
Since it is a hardware limitation, we can't change the power sequence. Sorry about that.

BTW, we could force to enable the HDMI output with expected resolution regardless of the EDID/HPD signals from monitors on Linux by adding a couple of kernel parameters on grub or bootloaders.
I think there should be a similar workaround in Windows 10 too. But we can't try it since we have not used any Windows OS for several years.

Hello,
just a short Update:

After switching from the Microsoft internal Graphic Driver to the Intel Driver (Version 27.20.100.9466) the Display is correct recognized and working.
