Hello Colleagues,
Regards from sunny Riga!
We are much excited to see Your new H3/H3+ machines and would be much happy to integrate it in our digital signage projects.
Still for our systems we need to run Android on it.
Your UK colleagues suggested to ask it here in forum – if we can buy from You eMMC with Android-X86 preinstalled?
Or we can install it on some of Your existing eMMC – let's say for example – 32GB eMMC Module H3/H2 (SKU: G181116491347)?
Thank You very much for Your everkind help in advance.

Re: Android on the H3
Nobody seemed to test any Android-x86 OS on the H3 series yet.
Therefore, we are not sure how it works with the H3 series.
We will try installing the Android-x86 OS to a 32GB eMMC module in a few days and roughly test functionality & performance.

Re: Android on the H3
Don't expect too much.
I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't even boot.
The activities of the Android-x86 development team do not seem to be active in the last three years.
https://www.android-x86.org/changelog.html
Because the Intel SoC on the H3 is relatively new, their old kernel version might not support some important hardware features.
I bet Android OS runs on the N2+ and C4 boards much more nicely than Android-x86.

Re: Android on the H3
Thank You Odroid,
Oo-oh. Got it.
Actually we are very happy with N2, but ... it has it's limits ... (as everything)
For example this content – https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=W5Z96BK1VC3
N2 is struggling to handle it ... too much lag, Client is disappointed.
So we started to look for more powerful machine and happily met H3.
Maybe it is solution.
Any way – we will be much Thankfull if You consider to look into this possibility, may be it is worth a try.
Thank You very much.

Re: Android on the H3
If it's a web kiosk application, couldn't you run it from regular ubuntu with chromium in kiosk mode?
Else, if you need android, you might want to run it inside bluestacks.

Re: Android on the H3
We tried installing the x86-android.
But the system just stopped when we selected an installation menu. We couldn't go further steps.
Anyway, we tried that content (you shared a web link) with the latest Android OS image on N2+ with side-loaded Chrome browser.
It seems to be fine. We slightly overclocked to 2.4Ghz from stock 2.2Ghz though.

Re: Android on the H3
Thank You Mad_Ady,
Currently ubuntu is bit out of our scope. We are inside the bigger ecosystem of several Android based remote management consoles.
We didn't tried bluestacks, but I am bit afraid if there everything will smoothly stick together ... compatibility, performance, reliability, etc.
But Thank You for an idea! Why not? We should like exploring new territories – so may be some day ...

Re: Android on the H3
Thank You Odroid,
Sad news about Android-x86, indeed. We much count on it ...
But Thank You very much for tryout – at least to learn that we can no more rely on Android-x86. For now.
Yes, N2 is doing quite good, still ... Client has it's own decision.
But we much love N2 – in it's class it is above any competition.
Thank You once again.
