XCP-ng (Open Source Hypervisor based on XenServer)

Post by KnowBe4 »

Hello Everyone,

I've been eyeing ODROID-H2 since last year, but can't get hand of it, I want to try XCP-ng on it, an Open Source Hypervisor based on XenServer.

XCP-ng 8.0 is on Beta release and it's platform update will be the following;

Kernel version is now Linux 4.19
Xen Hypervisor version is now 4.11
Control domain OS is now CentOS 7.5

My biggest concern on ODROID-H2 is the NIC, Realtek RTL8111G.

Realtek RTL8111G is not well supported, because the driver source code is not open source, but there's work around. Manually compile the driver source code.

If someone there who has ODROID-H2 and have spare time to load XCP-ng 7.6 or 8.0 to test if the NIC will be automatic detected or if not, manually compile driver source code, then check if the NIC will be detected.

Thank you in Advance

I have tried to boot an actual ISO (8.2.0) but no luck. Found out, there is probably a bug in XenServer, that prevents booting on H2. Maybe someone has more info on that topic or maybe a solution, but for now, you cant use XCP-ng on H2.
