FreeDOS?

Unread post by jsfrederick » Sun Feb 10, 2019 6:14 am

I am wondering if the H2 could run FreeDOS? It looks like a standard Intel based PC, so I would think it would.

I have a USB floppy that I could use to install FreeDOS onto some media, maybe eMMC or a M.2 NVMe. Can this bios boot from a floppy?

My use case for this device would be a SpinRite box that I can connect SATA drives to for testing and recovery.

AFAIK no, it can only boot 64bit OS that are compatible with UEFI

Will SpinRite not work through emulation?

Interesting... Let me do some research.

From what I know, SpinRite does not work under emulation and even under Windows after Win95. The "next" version is supposed to change that, but Steve Gibson has been saying he's going release the new version "any day now" for the last 5 years.

Thank you kindly, Sir!

That is interesting. I just might have to give it a try.
