H2+ DOA?

Post by heavymetalme »

Seeing that the H2+ was discontinued and I had always wanted one, I jumped on an eBay listing that was "open box" (and rather pricey). Upon receiving it, it was seemed brand new. I wasn't fully prepared to assemble (I still need to buy some RAM and a few other things), but when I went to plug it in just to be sure it was in working order (using my 15v4a power supply that I have on hand for my HC4), theres no activity at all. No LEDs or anything.

Is this board DOA or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Update- did my due diligence and went through some previous threads. Power supply is ready 15.22v so we're good there. Checked the PS1 fuse for continuity and we're good there as well. Also checked PC4 for 15v and sure enough, we're at 15.22.

Any other checks that I can do? I looked at the document on the blue LED that should be on regardless of RAM or media, and again, we have no life. I have an approved Crucial stick of ram arriving today, however, I don't think that that will alleviate the issue I'm having.

Sorry for not posting this in the "Issues" section.

Can you remove the cmos battery for 10 minutes, reattach it and try to power it again? Also note that you can press the power button on the pcb.

Thanks for the response.

Tried removing the CMOs for a considerable amount of time, as well as recognized that there is the power button. Still not responsive :(

The blue LED must be on regardless of the DRAM module at least.

If not, try contacting the ebay seller for refund.

Check out the wiki. There's a way to force flash the bios, in case it's corrupted. Though I don't know if that would help.

Isn't there like some way to test MOSFETs, like maybe putting a multimeter on the input and output sides? I know the N2 wiki says to diagnose just by looking at it with my superman x-ray vision but... https://magazine.odroid.com/article/rep ... t-circuit/

I appreciate the responses. The seller was kind enough to accept the return (they sell a lot of HK boards and were sympathetic to my plight).

I know my way around enough to be dangerous, but I'm glad it didn't end with me having to try and do some surface mount repairs :)

Welp, here's to hoping more *working* H2s pop up on eBay!

Burnt MOSFETs almost always have short circuit between source and drain, I don't recall seeing any other mode of failure in practice.
