The image exists since 2013/2014 back then EmulationStation was crap and there weren't much alternatives.emulajavi wrote:Since Kodi launches by default, and I remember you saying on some posts that you preferred using Rom Collection Browser to EmulationStation,..... I though it'd better to use it. But maybe those were old posts.
It took EmulationStation until late 2017 to include video preview for example, this was working already in 2012 in RCB.
But with all projects, if there are no maintainer it will get worse over time
I preferred RCB due to the fact you have everything in one frontend. Watching videos in Kodi, listen to music, playing games..
Back then it was working perfectly fine, now not so much anymore..
It's sad cause it was a good project.
But it seems they are working on it again.. maybe with the next version it's working better again.
Hard to say.. I haven't done that in quite a while. All my games are already scanned from "way back" using RCB back then. So I have texts, video previews, and coverarts and such.emulajavi wrote:So it is expected behaviour that the Rom Collection Browser included with your image doesn't find anything when 'scratching', correct?
I'm not 100% sure how a clean install acts at the moment.
Yeah that's one of the downsides of EmulationStation it only knows so many systems, and systems it doesn't know it can't scan.emulajavi wrote:Currently I have put some ROMS inside the Atari 2600, Genesis and GameGear folders (and Rom Collection Browser found them all) but EmulationStation only shows two systems: Atari2600 and Genesis. I've been able to scratch this two systems with EmulationStation and it gets the metadata, pics, etc...
This is another thing that never happend with RCB back then.. you might find the false cover art from a different system, but it always found something, even if it didn't knew the system.
EmulationStation can't do this.
