How Do I Make The Screen Work on the N64 Case?

Unread post by russelllellis » Tue Aug 20, 2019 11:30 am

Hello! I am new here and very much a novice. I've looked all over but cannot find a tutorial on how to make the screen work on the N64 case for the XU4. Can someone point me in the right direction? Preferably a video since I am still learning how all this works. Thanks! :)

Code: Select all

modprobe spi_s3c64xx force32b=1
modprobe fbtft_device name=hktft9340 busnum=1 rotate=270
after that you need something that can write directly to /dev/fb1
I use mplayer (NOT mplayer2) and a command line like:

Code: Select all

mplayer -nolirc -vo fbdev2:/dev/fb1 <FILE>
please note that the file should be 320x240 at max or you need to use scaling of mplayer as well.
Mplayer can display videos as well as pictures.. so throwing a .jpg .png or .gif works the same as .mp4 .avi .mkv

If you made your own image, shouldn't you know things like that?
It also depends on what image you use and how it works.
I put it in /etc/rc.local but depending on what image you "made" it may not have this.
You can create a script run it as a systemd service.
Or a sysvinit script
or a script started on logon onto the desktop.

There are many ways to do this.

I apologize. I use retroarena. I meant that I put all the games on. Lol. That’s how new I am to this.

If you use the RA OS image instead of your own home-build OS, post a question on their Discord channel to have a faster answer.
