Adapter case for the N1 for the N64 xu4 case?

Unread postby ImLost » Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:50 am

So I see the next board is the N1. For those of us who got the N64 case and want and little more power to emulate n64, will a conversion case be made (just a case with a usb ribbon cable to reach rear io)?

Actually the N1 was cancelled, the N2 will be coming though.

Lol, will N2 have the same IO layout as the XU4? Don't see the section for the N2. Well... hopefully they'll have USB on both ends. Then I just need to cut a square and make a custom io shield on the N64 case.

Nobody outside Hardkernel knows yet. Though I hope they won't use 1.8V for the GPIOs, so this means the lcd/board won't work without an adapter...

Noooooooo...... On that note, did the N1 use a different gpio than the xu4?

yes.. the GPIO layout of the XU4 is very unique.

It was mostly the same pins, but XU4 has 1.8V and small pitch pins while the N1 had 3V with thicker pins, while C1/2 have 3.3V with thick pins as well. So thankfully the cable will not physically fit. Most likely HardKernel will make a revision change to allow the board to interface with the N2 - once software is proven to work correctly.
