Post by BaldNerd »

Thought I'd share an assembly video in case anyone is curious how the CloudShell 2 goes together.

My pleasure! There's more coming too, and we'll be featuring it on Category5 Technology TV.

If you like the assembly video, please feel free to include it on the wiki or use it however you like. I give you free use of it. If you ever have trouble with the music, just let me know. I have the licenses.

My pleasure. Glad you could use it and hope it helps people see how to build it. Thank you for adding it to the WiKi - makes me feel like I've contributed in some small way.

Keep up the great work!

This video looking on YouTube is how I found out about the CludShell 2 and I order one. They updated the shell some from that video.

When I put mine together even on the page that shows how the sides did not match up. I had to find it out by started to put it together.

Right. Side plastic plate has been slightly improved.
So there are two guides for ver1.0 and ver2.0

Very good I did not see that when I put mine together. I have ver2.0

I guess ver3.0 will work to cooler better the CPU with the fan in the back.

No, you have everything needed, those pictures are from an older version of the CloudShell2, just build it and flash a software image on a MicroSD Card to boot from

      Then I would be missing:

      - ODROID-XU4Q or ODROID-XU4 (Which one do you suggest?)
      - USB to eMMC adapter
      - Operating System Storage
      - Realtime Clock Battery Backup

      True?

XU4Q and XU4 both are fine, the XU4Q will be cooled good from the case fan but if you have heavy CPU tasks or heavy network traffic I would take an XU4

I use my CS2 now for over more than two years with an SD card (no EMMC) and it's still running fine

You don't need real time clock as most OS are getting real time clock over network, except you have very special usage and the CS2 will not be connected to the Internet

        Hope that helps RG

My CloudShell 2 has 112 days uptime currently which I think is a record since my power usually goes out more often than that.

I run the case fan when the drives are spinning and the XU4 fan rarely comes on. So if you don't want to run the case fan I would go with the actively cooled XU4.

He suggests buying the XU4Q or XU4?
