Cloudshell 2 Fan not working

Hello all,

I am totally new to the Odroid world and just built my XU4Q and Cloudshell 2 system today
I found some posts going into the direction of my question, but nothing there helped.

The fan in the cloudshell frame is not starting up. cloudshell2-fan is installed and was started.
the displays shows me CPU temps of 66C, disk temps 41C, all marked red, but the fan doesn't come on.
I tried the i2cset commands but couldn't get it running.
I got the CPU temp to 80C with a benchmark, but still no fan.
Unfortunately I don't have another fan to test here.

Are those temps just normal for the Q model?
is there any other way to force the fan on to see if it works?
Any other hints on what might be wrong?

This will turn the fan on.

Unfortunately no success.
Fan doesn't move the slightest bit.

What does dmesg say after running that command?

unfortunately no new entries in dmesg, neither in syslog. Even after adding debug logs

I followed this howto initially.
All those packages are installed.
LCD is working fine.

I see you did, I don't know what else to try really. Do you have a multimeter?

Well the thing is you don't know if it's the fan or the cloudshell board.

Does the fan spin freely?

yes, it all looks good, I rather think it is the cloudshell board. I guess it will end up with them replacing one of both and hope that was it

It is very worth to check the "sudo i2cdetect -y 1" output first.

Which Kernel version do you use? uname -a
If you still have a similar output with Kernel 4.9 or 4.14, something could wrong with the PCB in Cloudshell or the 30pin IDC cable.

In that case, please contact your distributor with a link of this thread for the RMA process.

Tech support wasn't too helpful (wanted me to send the whole thing back to check it). So I decided to send the cloudshell back as is possible by law in Germany and order a new one.
So unfortnately I can't report on what the reason was.
