I use Clementine as it has many different presets, like Pop, Rock, Classic and so on.
I'll try if I can find another tool that has easy access to software equalizer.. maybe VLC or something like that.

Was there no same issue with kernel 4.9?
When we tested our CloudShell-1 with Kernel 4.9 and 4.14, we had to reduce the queue size to 20KB like this to avoid the storage stability issue.

I checked my old logs and the error never occurred on 4.9. I'll add the queue size setting and see if that stops the alerts.

FYI I don't use the standard defconfig, if you'd like a look I can upload my .config somewhere.

After this change I'm still getting the warnings at about the same rate as before. I didn't see them in 4.9.

@daviessm Have you seen this thread: viewtopic.php?f=146&t=27548 ?
You should try to generate huge amount of network traffic ( e.g. copy a large file to the odroid via the on board gigabit ethernet port ) while at the same time using your USB3 device. The error rate should increase. On the other hand, you could try to unplug the network cable and the warnings should disappear. At least that is my experience with my USB3 device...

@SamVDB² thanks, yeah I've read through it. They seem to be getting different errors in dmesg from me though, about port resets and so on. Not sure the high traffic test will show much either since this has only started happening after I updated to kernel 4.14. Fingers crossed that going to @memeka's kernel has stopped its watchdog timeout issues causing reboots...

@daviessm if you have a spare sd card can you try armbian with 4.14 kernel?
Let me know if you have the same issues there, I might have an idea about a fix...

oCam works in USB 3.0 mode.
Try your USB 3.0 camera after cold-boot. We are trying to fix the USB 3.0 warm-boot issue now.

I've backported and tested ffmpeg 3.4 packages from Debian 10 (Buster) on Debian Jessie with Kernel 4.14.. seems to work fine.
Not 100% sure if audio is in sync, but video is really good. ffplay of 1080p video uses less than 30% CPU in total under X11 :)

I've tried two videos from https://www.4ktv.de/testvideos/
Panasonic Lumix GH4 Demo and Curved - Extreme Sports (Hisense)

The result is mixed.. the Panasonic one is quite ok, the Curved one can be rather laggy.
But I think there's a sound issue as it slows down and studders and so does the video. But if I disable sound -acodec none the video becomes a lot more fluent.
The first one is completely fluent without sound.

I was confused. It was not sufficient. :(
That patch was used for fixing the random missing Ethernet controller.
You have to apply another patch to fix the random missing USB 3.0 hub controller.

I had an unexpected reboot last night due to what looks like a memory allocation error (despite there being a lot of free memory) during a removal of a btrfs snapshot as part of my nightly backup and cleanup script. I can't tell whether this is odroid or btrfs-related though. There were no oom-killer related lines anywhere near this.

I had it cause a non recoverable crash in testing and found the bug was already reported a year ago and not fixed. The XU4 having 8 cores makes hitting some common bug types more likely.

nope it aint i just bricked 2x emmc`s one red one orange..the red one had 4.9 kernel image on it so it did what i think was a kernel or tried to upgrade it to 4.14 from 4.9..i had to test thus so on my orange chip i had 4.14 from scratch that too bricked it`1s self at the kernel upgrade..

@snk: you need to explicitly ask for the module to load and to supply the correct parameters:

Reboot works for me with 20171212 image.
Can you try a few times of reboot cycle?
Can you capture the serial console output when the reboot command makes XU4 off?
