I'm having trouble working out how to get a debug log. I've gone into tvh server settings and enabled 'TRACE debug' (I assume that's what you want) but no debug file is being generated.

The only log I can get is the one from the web interface.

Code: Select all
2017-09-08 21:27:38.541 xmltv: /storage/.kodi/addons/service.tvheadend42/bin/tv_grab_file: grab /storage/.kodi/addons/service.tvheadend42/bin/tv_grab_file
2017-09-08 21:27:38.543 spawn: Executing "/storage/.kodi/addons/service.tvheadend42/bin/tv_grab_file"
2017-09-08 21:27:38.567 xmltv: /storage/.kodi/addons/service.tvheadend42/bin/tv_grab_file: no output detected
2017-09-08 21:27:38.567 xmltv: /storage/.kodi/addons/service.tvheadend42/bin/tv_grab_file: grab returned no data

Hyperion seems to be working fine here for me with latest update. I haven't finished setting up my new config yet but so far seems to be working fine.
One thing with it is h265 with echo 3 doesn't seem to be working anymore, has to be echo 1 which makes 4k unplayable but that's unrelated to these builds.

Thanks for Leia6, Raybuntu.

There is some strangeness with de-interlacing happening with this build. It may be with Leia 4 or 5 too, but I don't know. I skipped those. De-interlacing settings are now available while watching a video. But for me, having them enabled makes the videos (1080i TV) display in slow motion. If I disable de-interlacing, then the videos display properly. Not an issue, as there is a workaround. But I thought I would mention it anyway.

IIRC deinterlace with hw decoding is detected and enabled automatically in Amlogic. That additional setting is probably for SW decoding only.

Makes sense.

I have a general question on whether on not people experience fluid mpeg-2 (DVD) videos with the C2. This has existed with any Krypton or Leia build. I haven't tried Jarvis builds. On my RPis, videos are very smooth, but with the C2, mkvs with mpeg-2 are not smooth. Whenever there is motion or panning, the video appears jerky (is that judder?) It happens with whatever TV, projector, or monitor I own. I have frame rate switching enabled, of course. Videos are not smooth whether or not hardware acceleration is enabled or disabled for SD mpeg-2 content.

I've mentioned this before in this forum, provided logs, and can easily provide more logs, however, I'm just looking for a general response on whether people have perfectly smooth video or not with similar content.

I wonder why mine aren't smooth. Any of your MKVs from NTSC DVDs? Or are they all PAL?

Here is a little preview for rb-leia7:
https://mega.nz/#F!Zho2GJjC!t6szefIM5MAK7Ik6OOgiuA

-current Kodi and LE master
-updated addons
- Includes libnss and libnspr* for newer versions of widevine

I've tested the builds with pvr.zattoo, NF, Amazon and Dazn with inputstream.adaptive 2.1
Should also solve some a/v sync issues.

A little update for the preview rb-leia7:
https://mega.nz/#F!Zho2GJjC!t6szefIM5MAK7Ik6OOgiuA

-usbtv driver included
-xbox one tuner driver included

I will probably make a final release of rb-leia7 by friday on github.
Also now we have pvr.wmc and vfs.rar in the repo for rb-leia7.

EDIT:
I've uploaded a preview for rb-krypton18:

I'm testing leia7 at the moment and i installed hyperion (not hyperion NG) and so far i have no issues with only the amlgrabber enabled.
The issue i had like you hasn't occur yet after watching live tv or local video playback.
But the issue is very random as you know.
If i enable both amlgrabber and framegrabber and give the amlgrabber a lower priority then videoplayback will slowdown and eventually freeze.
HEVC playback for now no issues either but i didn't watch a whole movie for i.e 2 hours. but also only the amlgrabber enabled and enabled this
Code: Select all
echo 3 | tee /sys/module/amvdec_h265/parameters/double_write_mode
for watching HEVC with hyperion.

For netflix and hyperion i have to enable the framegrabber but both enabled works too and only the amlgrabber enabled doesn't work, you have to enable the framegrabber.
I think because netflix uses software decoder (inpustream adaptive) you can't use only the amlgrabber. In my opinion enabling and disabling the framegrabber in hyperion config is pretty annoying.

A good solution for this is only one grabber that can use for all video playback.

In hyperion NG it isn't possible to choose two grabbers in the webbrowser settings.
Maybe someone else know how to do that..
I wil ask in the hyperion forum if it is possible for amlgrabber also making work for software decoding so we don't have to switch everytime.

I suggest writing a simple kodi service addon like the guys at kodinerds forum did for 3d autoswitching. And choosing grabber depending on content.

Sure I just meant in general. Is there a simple way to switch grabbers with JSON for instance or from cmd line? You could for instance map a command or script to a button on the remote. It's always good to gather as much information as possible. I have no hw for Hyperion that's why it's not a high priority for me.

Hi, i'm one of the "3d-autoswitching-kodi-service-addon"-guys :D

@Pienoet
Are you familiar with JSON-Requests?
Can you please play different content and make a request from your PC(Browser) to your C2:
http://#YOUR-C2-IP#/jsonrpc?request={"jsonrpc": "2.0", "method": "XBMC.GetInfoLabels", "params": { "labels": ["VideoPlayer.VideoCodec"] }, "id": "GetInfoLabels"}

What kind of content do i need to play?

X264, x265 Live TV, software decoding?

Some feedback about the hyperion topic:
Pienoet did some test and i jumped into the hyperion-addon code
Without some (large) hacking inside the hyperion-add in i see no solution
With some kind of manually installation/scripts around hyperion, kodi, Lirc, ... it would certainly be feasible
But that would be a individual one-user-solution or a partial hyperion replacement
and I would not recommend that

Hello,

Just to say that I'm new on this forum. I'm the kind of person who take quite a bit of time evaluating the different options for whatever I purchase, 'on paper'... I.e. I read a lot of forums and post instead of looking at the manufacturers hypes and marketing bs, before I go ahead and buy something... So I finally went for the C2, my primary goal being to replace (actually upgrade/duplicate functionality of) an HTPC based on Atom chipset (Micro-ITX board), which by the way still did run on Kodi Eden , but on a small sleek SBC (this does increase the WAF). So, requirements are smooth Kodi integration (what I had before, but had some issues), but also now with the wish to add some retro gaming (I know what the limitations are, I don't expect any high end consoles, just to be able to relive some good old memories with classic games, and show my 6yo son what the sweet 80's looked like :D).

I got a bit sad when I saw the issues with the rewind function freezing Kodi. Not that I can't live without it, as the skip back did work, but more for it being a regression from my former setup (Intel Atom). I do have some WAF to consider in here :D

Long story short, to come back to the topic, and for all of those who wondered about the rewind issue, this version of LibreELEC (actually, more to do with Kodi Leia), DOES work perfectly for the rewind ;) It's even pretty decent.

Moreover, I would say that for most part, when skipping (back, forward, jumping to a point), I would say that there's much less 'noise'. 17.x just looked pretty bad when pressing rapidly the 'skip' button, to try to visually find back a proper sequence in the video. It's not really faster to skip in Leia, but it does show less tearing. Just a general feeling. So, even though Leia is still Alpha, I think it's definitely worth to try. Who know, maybe the bugs and things that still are left to do mostly affect parts of Kodi that you are not using or that you don't specifically need (which definitely is different for everybody). I myself still have a lot to test out, but this definitely look promising what they are doing with the new video player.

Thank you Raybuntu for the time you take in making this community build. I know what this means, as I've been there too (for other unrelated FOSS projects, correcting bugs, submitting fixes, compiling 'Windoze' dll for libraries, etc.). This is always of tremendous help for the majority who either does not have the skill and/or the time to tinker around and start hacking into the different software to analyse/fix bugs/recompile/try out/repeat until satisfactory result...

Best regards,
Eric

One question, with rb-krypton18, it was possible to modify the root password. With rb-leia8, this is not possible. Possibly just a patch that has not been transported to the rb-leia8 build.

Hello,

one finding in leia8: during a switch from one TV channel to another there is a 1-second flash of Kodi's GUI instead of a usual black screen. I'm using TVH. This was also a finding in Milhouse RPi testbuilds but now fixed.

Hi, Raybuntu.

I'm still seeing occasional black screens when stopping a video (24p video going back to 60Hz GUI). I recall a patch to disable HPD may be available. I read through the odroid forums and see references to disabling HPD in boot.ini. Is that all the patch is or is there something else required? If it's only modifying boot.ini, I'll do that myself.

Edit: just tried adding 'setenv HDP "false" ' to boot.ini and still see occasional black on stopping videos.

Hi all,

I'm looking to install Krypton18 Final and I currently have LibreElec with Jarvis 16.1 running. Is there a posting on here which shows the steps to upgrade to the Krypton18 Final build ? Can I just drop the IMG or TAR files somewhere onto my C2 and install the upgrades ?

Can I update an official libreelec installation to the latest "Raybuntu krypton 64bit kernel 32bit libs" by simply copying the tar-file to the update folder?
Will netflix work with this version or do I need Leia?

one finding in leia8: during a switch from one TV channel to another there is a 1-second flash of Kodi's GUI instead of a usual black screen. I'm using TVH. This was also a finding in Milhouse RPi testbuilds but now fixed.

Michael

I can confirm that.
When switching from channel is see the channel logo and a spinning disc.

same finding here ;-), and furthermore: channel changing is very slow, in comparison to 8.1.1/Krypton 17.4

Hold on @Pienoet I removed the files and will reupload them in a second. There is an issue with NF.

EDIT: OK everything up and running. Please redownload.

Hi Ray,

I'm finding with the latest Krypton build 2.0 channel audio isn't getting passed to the subwoofer. It was my understanding frequencies lower than 80Hz will be passed to the sub regardless of a specific subject channel in the file?

Am i wrong? I'm sure the last build was OK?

Hello

I am using rb-krypton 18, and find the sound very good. In this release, multichannel sound is correctly transmitted to the AVR (HDMI interface) in the correct format (DD, DTS, etc.), unlike previous releases (all formats were transmitted as multichannel PCM). There is only a problem with the asynchronous USB DAC - the sound is occasionally cracking.

Thanks raybuntu

Check the changelog linked there. Most recent LE master and recent Kodi master. There is still the issue with HEVC Videos. See here for a workaround:

This seems not related to my builds. I haven't tried NF in a while but lately there was an API and asciidisco wanned to fix it.
