Extreme Slowness

Unread postby xtgk » Wed Dec 06, 2017 3:00 pm

Hi there, I have had my Odroid C2 for about a year now. Have had miscellaneous issues and can usually figure them out but this one has me stumped. I hadn't used my device for about a month in September from being out of town and when I booted it up, it was very slow. Like crawling. Sometimes it will take 15-20 minutes to go from black screen to login and even SSH can be really slow. In this case, the system is not really usable because of the lack of performance. I have continually upgraded the system in hopes of new updates resolving the issue but it has not worked yet.

The only things that pop out that I can see when I logon is several messages about uninitialized unradom read, that zram swapping is failing to initialize. I also noticed a lot of irqbalance messages in the syslog.

Here's some output for my system from uname and df.

Linux odroid64 3.14.79-115 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 10 12:13:00 BRT 2017 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Log-in screen should appear within ~30 seconds. Some portion of the root file system could be corrupted.

Did you update the system software with following steps?
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c2/os_im ... and_system

Also check the CPU governor. If it is no "performance", try this command and reboot.
Code: Select all
echo 'GOVERNOR="performance"' | sudo tee /etc/default/cpufrequtils

If above items are not helpful, freshly flash the latest Ubuntu image.

I was missing that file, I think that resolved the problem. System is running as expected and much faster. Thank you very much.
