Volume and power buttons gone

Post by Santos »

Hi guys,

I am using a Waveshare 7" 800x480 touch screen on my C2 running Android and the volume, power and screenshot buttons are gone, the only ones that apear are the back, home and overview buttons, I need at least the volume and power buttons, if I change the screen resolution they apear in some modes but I need 800x480 resolution for my touch screen to work, I have already changed the setenv disable_vu7 to "true".

Can anybody help me on this problem? Probably something easy I just can't get there on my own, thanks in advance ;)

I have tried the last new ones 2.7 and 2.8, they used to appear when I had the pre installed image on the MMC card, I think it was 2.4.

What happens if you set setenv disable_vu7 to "false"?

I wanted to know the button status of the navigation bar with "false".
Did you cleanly install the image again?

Where can I find the the button status of the navigation bar? I changed setenv disable_vu7 to "false" and the touch screen doesn't work.
I tried both images 2.7 and 2.8 both images only apear 3 buttons, I have tried with other screen modes and all the buttons apear, just with the resolution of the screen 800x480 they don't.

We will try to reproduce the issue with our Vu7 tomorrow since it is already 19:15 in Korea.

It depends on your DPI setting as to whether you get the 'compact' Navigation bar with just 3 icons or the full Navigation bar with the volume, power and screenshot icons.

However, for me on a standard install with 800x480 resolution screen I get all the icons. (I think from memory default DPI at this resolution is around 120 or so). Then when changing the DPI value to around 180, the extra icons are removed leaving just the 3. This actually for me is exactly what I want.

You could try changing your DPI setting to a lower value until you get the extra icons back. You can do 'wm density 120' etc from a terminal or edit /system/bin/set_density.sh for a permanent change.

We could see other icons when we set the density to 120 as benwillcox mentioned.

Thanks Ben and Odroid, I will try to change the density to 120 and share the result. ;)
