[SOLVED] eMMC trouble

Post by rom22 »

Hello,
I am trying to restart my "old" C2, but i have a problem with the eMMC module.
I try to format this module but must have made it wrong, now I only have a 1GB module.
I am not able to get more than 1GB with the tools that I know! (mainly RUFUS or Win32DiskImager_odroid_v13, or BalenaEtcher)
do you know about this type of issue, and if a tool to restore the entire capacity of my eMMC module exist?

The capacity reported is likely from the first partition on the emmc. Have you tried to flash it anyway? Do you get errors flashing it with etcher?

Try using the latest SD Formatter.

I vever really tried to understand why but Linux disks having less useable space than physical space is an old problem.
It seems like it used to happen more back when ext2 was king.

You may be thinking of the 5% reserved space for root that gets set by default.

Same problem with the sdcard formatter: the capacity indicated is 1GB and the formatting process end with 1023,47MB of capacity, even with options "overwrite format" and "CHS format size adjustment" so now I will try now with my "Ubuntu 20".

Run dmrsg -w and then plug the emmc in and show us what you get in dmesg.

Sorry, my problem was certainly due to a bad USB to microSD adaptator!
I try with a new one and then the SDcard formatter show me 7.73GB of capacity, I format so and now I think I am able to flash the good image on it!!!
Thanks all for all your help and for your time!
