It's at this time that exact specific HDMI-CEC connected Hardware Names should be listed including Model Numbers to see if that Hardware is listed as problematic.

The CPU Governor can be backed off a bit to bring Temps down by using Either:
Code: Select all
echo hotplug > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
or
echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

As for Compiling, you missed Step number 8 in the LE Wiki:
Code: Select all
PROJECT=Odroid_C2 ARCH=aarch64 make release (or image)
:)

cec_ll_rx(): CEC: rx msg len: 13   dat: 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01

Either your TV is sending a really really bad message (that doesn't exist) or there is a bug in the chip or your board is faulty.

Didn't noticed that rx.
The problem appears only after reboot. It never failed after kodi CEC connection message.
I'll do some test on Onkyo AVR/ Samsung JU7500 TV for this CEC message. If it appear, then I'll be sure it's a hardware problem.

Hi,

First of all: BIG thanks to everybody, especially wrxtasy, for a great job!

Few observations:

I'm using the C2 with an MariaDB dbase, so I can swap out with my old RP2 (with LibreElec). After upgrading to most recente build for C2 it seems it's running on a different Kodi version, because library and state information is missing.

Second: when it's scraping the libraries (because of the first issue) the C2 gets really warm and starts rebooting. When it cools down it's running fine, when it gets hot it starts rebooting random. In the place behind my TV set there are not a lot of options to cool it down. Whether it's temperature of NIC issues if it scrapes: don't know.

If there are any logs I can contribute, tell me, I'm no programmer, but will help if I can.

Then I guess it's a faulty C2 board but I might be wrong.

@bartmans, You need to state Exactly which version, not just "recent build".

Kodi is the exact same version pulled in from the Github sources.
The only changes are the latest test 3D.MVC.ISO version that changed MySQL configuration from advancedsettings.xml and brought it into the Kodi GUI (found under Settings > System > Services). That is why its a test version.

As for Heat, you will need to pull back the CPU/GPU Governor back a bit, try first:
Code: Select all
nano .config/autostart.sh
insert this....
echo interactive > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
CTRL-O to save, CTRL-X to exit
then...
chmod +x .config/autostart.sh
reboot

Still having issues then replace the above with this:
Code: Select all
echo hotplug > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Could you make an alpha 2 Krypton 17.0 version? That would be awesome!

You should really take some time and effort to read through this thread (or learn to use the search function) as this has been answered before: read this link

@Raybuntu

Hi Raybuntu. I noticed something by the way in my dmesg output:

[   24.906993] cectx c810023c.aocec: aml_cec_class_devnode(): mode is 1b6

Do you have a clue what causes those TX errors? I am not using the CEC remote function but have CEC inputdevice activated for powering the tv on and off at odroids boot/shutdown.

That's normal kodi try's to ping other devices but can't find them. It's according to the CEC spec. Don't worry. If you don't have problems just ignore it. And thanks for the log.

Okay hmm, wondering whether this could be the reason for my problem from this post: viewtopic.php?f=139&t=20485&p=143429#p143429
The problem is that I can't export/use header-pin8 (GPIO113) for my RemotePi board. Is this related somehow?

Interesting, it was posted whiile I was gone, didnt expect it.

Removing timing/sync elements in Krypton made Krypton kernel depended. That sucks.
I would love to try it anyway even with everything out of sync haha :D

Well yes, but on the other hand it sounds as if this allows to finally get back amazon instand video and netflix and all the other drm prtected stuff back onto raspberry and odroid and so on in the future.
The new "Input Stream" feature thanks to "Widevine" will make it possible and it sounds as if this is a benefit of turning away from those timing/sync elements prior used to krypton.

Hi.

I'm sorry if it has already been answered, but I can't seems to find a list of compatible USB Bluetooth dongles for LibreELEC to work with. 2 years ago I had a custom-built x86 HTPC with OpenELEC running and my cheap BT dongle (USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001&REV_5276) worked with it. I was using Sony PS3 Bluetooth RC 2.0 and loved how OE had all buttons mapped by default. Today I got my C2, installed latest LE, plugged BT dongle, enabled BT in settings, but LE doesn't seem to recognize it :( What do I do wrong?

Have you enabled bluetooth from Librelec settings (in applications menu) ?
I am using a cheap (1$) bluetooth dongle without any problem with my RPi2, RPi3 and Odroid-C2.

BT settings is also works funny for me: after LibreELEC powers on, Bluetooth page says "Bluetooth is disabled", while it's clearly enabled in settings. Switching it off and on again makes message change to "No Bluetooth adapter found". But after C2 reboot BT page again shows "Bluetooth is disabled"...
This BT dongle works in Windows, but Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (v2.0) (C2 release) also fails to find it. I assume my BT adapter somehow gone rogue, gonna find another one to test situation out.

Hi, thank you for your work on libreelec for C2, the playback work nice on my board I have already watched more than 3 films without problems

But i have a problem when navigating in my NAS share.

if i go in the list of files and I go down (bottom arrow) 2-3 times my C2 restart.

With Yatse or Kore it work flawlessly... but navigating in the NAS with the interface make it restart every time. (Using my tv remote with CEC)

Update : i can have it crash with local video/audio files too.

If I can give you some logs or other thing that can help.. please ask...

Brief answers:

- never had any problems with dirt cheap CSR 4.0 USB BT dongles on any ODROID's

- Unable to help with DualShock 3 setups, I did find this old OpenELC BT Thread

- a crashing LibreELEC can sometimes be the result of having corrupt .rar or .zip in the files directory that LE tries to investigate and fails.
Also play around with Settings > Appearance > File Lists > Support Browsing into Archives > Disable

- The other issue for crashing is a Hardware one. There has been the rare instances of SD card readers on the C2 failing causing crashing problems. A Kernel Log is needed BEFORE crashes occur:
Code: Select all
dmesg | paste

First off, wrxtasy & the rest of the devs involved in this release thread, I simply want to thank you & the entire LibreELEC team in general. I have only recently discovered this fork & feel like I’ve been living under a rock. Especially with the added ODROID-C2 support.

I have a simple question. As a delighted LibreELEC user, I would love to be able to use my HiFi Shield & HiFi Shield Plus boards with LibreELEC. If I had the ability, I would lend a hand in assisting with the issue.

My only question is, are there are devs that are working on it or have it on their to do list? Is there any type of public roadmap posted?

Once again, thanks to everyone involved in the development and maintence of LibreELEC.

No one is working on that because no one has such a device. Please read the posts before. It was already answered. Would be nice if HK could provide a device for wrxtasy as a sample.

Also play around with Settings > Appearance > File Lists > Support Browsing into Archives > Disable

This option is disabled

I have just done some more test this morning, and it seems that it's related to the fan art, movie information or library.

When I highlight a movie , the dvd cover show then the background image and it restart just after that.
If i have no fan art/infos it seems there is no problem (can play the movie 1-2h without problem)
If the fan art take time to load... it restart only when they are loaded

I have disabled most of the options concerning fan art, extraction of info or download of things but nothing has changed

Will do more tests when i'm back home.

- The other issue for crashing is a Hardware one. There has been the rare instances of SD card readers on the C2 failing causing crashing problems. A Kernel Log is needed BEFORE crashes occur:
Code: Select all
dmesg | paste

Post up the http:// address

I try to log the crash... but it's so fast that i have nothing showing in dmesg (tried to "watch" it or something....but it's every second )

Will post one before crash when i'm back home

@wrxtasy:
I've got a question about the latest LibreELEC images. And I know you hate it when someone says "latest" but the thing is, I don't know when my "problem" started.

Lately, when I'm playing any kind of video (LiveTV, streaming or vidoe files) and push the back-button on my remote the video stops playing instead of Kodi just going back one step while the video keeps playing in the background.
I have not changed anything key related things accept for one small entry that disables the powerbutton as my wife and kids keep pressing the powerkey of my MCE remote.

Is this a LibreELEC specific change or a change you've made in these builds? Because my C1 in the bedroom and OpenELEC Raspberry's do what I expect, go back and overlay the menu over the video instead of stopping the video first.

Also, I've been reading through this thread trying to restore the "OK" button to it's intended function (the function where you get the playing video setup menu).
Because I am now unable to use my remote to download subtitles for the playing video. But I just can't figure out what I need to do/change to restore that function.

@lanPH: try this remote.xml:
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/Jarvis/system/keymaps/remote.xml
just disable the powerbutton inside and move it to your user directory.

Sorry for my english ;)

I'm very happy about your amazing job!

My C2 works great with every files I tried (also DTS MA!) BUT I have one little issue.

I boot my C2 with libreelec, no problem on main screen.
I play 1 file and the video switch to the correct refresh.
BUT 1 pixel has appeared in the top left of the screen !!!!!!
Not a big deal but when it is white, on black border, you can't miss it.
If I stop the, the video switch again to return to the main sceen and NOW the pixel is still there :(
The only way to make it disapear is to reboot ... but if I play 1 file, it comes back...

I have 2 SONY LCD FullHD TV (set on "every pixels" for no border) and the issue is the same on the 2 TV.

Is it normal? Do you want more information? I'm not working this week so I can test whatever you want ;)

Yeah, I figured it might of have been asked already in a 16 page thread that is constantly evolving. I simply wanted to thank the devs and ask about any possible updates regarding it as nothing stays the same. Anyways, thanks for the quick reply and answer.

THIS is exactly what is needed:

@IanPH, the answer to your problem is on Page #1 of this thread. I suggest you read that first.

@everyone, I will not be doing Kernel code modifications (apart from enabling Modules) or any detailed work for the HiFi Shield or any other attached Hardware. I will not be breaking working HD Audio Passthrough trying to get a DAC or Shield to work. Complain to HardKernel if you want such support.
There will be occasional Kernel updates only and that will be it.

@teeace, adjust your video calibration in Kodi settings to hide the pixel. I doubt I can do anything.

Hmm, thanks — I genuinely wish I read that earlier. A little disheartening at first, but, I appreciate the reality of the matter. Almost reminds me of when Linksys came out with an 'open source compatible flash-able’ router a year or so ago in an effort to revive what they had with the original WRT54G, a decade ago — yet, there was not even any open source driver support from their SoC supplier, Broadcom, until only recently with Linksys’ own router revision.

I will definitely do what I can and contact Hardkernel regarding it on any and all mediums. I’ll aim my vocal cannon at the proper direction.

I can only imagine how much of a thankless and tedious job it must be to maintain this release. I greatly appreciate what you have done so far. If you have any means of accepting donations, let me as I would like to show my gratitude besides just in nice words.

For anyone able to assist in the HiFi Shield working, I have $100 in BitCoins to chip-in. While I don’t have the technical ability to attempt it myself, I can at least give someone something in return — though I’m sure getting it to work (if even possible at all without Hardkernel) will take up a significant part of your time.

Until then, maybe I'll just use my Hardkernel HiFi Shields to learn how to juggle.

@neo_: Your best chance right now would be to build LE from wrxtasy's source and remove the patch. That will break "HD Audio Passthrough" for you but maybe you can live with that. It's pretty easy to build. Or you can go with an Ubuntu image for the time being. As far as I can tell no LE developer has a HifiShield.

Here is the patch that needs to be removed:
https://github.com/wrxtasy/LibreELEC.tv.7.0/blob/libreelec-7.0/projects/Odroid_C2/patches/linux/li04-Revert.all.Odroid.Specific.Sound.Mods.for.HiFi.Shield.and.usb_dac.patch

I already have a HiFi version compiled, with a bunch of experimental asound.conf files in the /etc directory.
These can be copied into the .config directory, and renamed asound.conf if you want to try.
I could not get AC3/DTS passthrough working. This version may not even work with the Shield. I have no such Hardware.

TEST:

This is where my support ends regarding the HiFi Shield and no further questions will be answered on the topic.

Raybuntu, wrxtasy
I spent last hours torture testing my device and trying to reproduce deaf CEC with another setup (Onkyo AVR + TV Samsung UHD).
- tested RAM and CPU for 12h (memtester + prime95 under ubuntu 16.04): no errors detected
- some eMMC tests - also OK
- tried very hard to reproduce deaf CEC with Samsung TV with my device: no success
- I did managed to have "Auto switch back" with samsung TV on LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.0.1.DTS-HD.img. Log: http://sprunge.us/DBMY
(your fix for "Sony TV" works here also - no problem on LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.0.1.HDMI-CECv1.tar)
- I cannot switch to UHD kodi or play UHD samples. I get "unknown input" (LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.0.1.DTS-HD.img). Dmesg log from playback http://sprunge.us/LHfI
- I did managed to switch Kodi to UHD and playback UHD samples on LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.0.1.HDMI-CECv1.tar... no idea what's the difference
- tried UHD 29.970 sample - kodi switched to UHD 50p.. (24p sample correctly switched to 24p). Log: http://sprunge.us/adMV
- 30 fps sample - the same as above

I also noticed that C2 is much cooler under Ubuntu than LE..
Checked device with thermal probe - the radiator is about 5 centigrades cooler than temp reported. So i think the temperatures are reported correctly. The memory chips on the other side of PCB are also quite hot - about 65 - 70 degrees C with idle Kodi (C2 inside a case).

Thanks a lot for your answer.
Calibrate or zoom the screen (in menu or during movie) doesn't work. The size of the menu or movie change, but the 1x1 top left pixel is white and doesn't move!

What is funny is that I thought that the pixel wasn't there after a reboot. But when I reboot and go directly to calibrate the screen, the top left blue Arrow (of the calibration page) shows me the pixel which is black on the blue arrow ...

I've installed android to check if my C2 works fine > no pixel on top left before, during or after any movie > my C2 isn't broken, I think.

I have the exact same issue - a blue/white dot on the extreme top left of the screen. I suspect others have it and don't know it. It's evidently just a smidgen outside of the video frame itself and almost looks like a dead pixel. It came, it went away for a few days, but then it came back again and is only visible during video playback. It's gone when perusing through the GUI, though I thought I saw it at one point, not so sure now. At any rate, since I'm using a projector I simply adjusted the picture zoom ever so slightly so that the blue/white dot is now just on the inner top-left edge of the black velvet frame, which hides it. You'll have to adjust the overscan slightly of your TV if you can.

You are correct. It was there in the first post on page one. I guess I tried to make it more difficult then necessary.
Even though it's now working properly, I don't understand why the default keymap makes the back-key first stop the video and then go one step back.

I not sure but the color ouput may look more saturated.
Went delving into Koying's old 3D MVC Archives today and plugged that in as well, ISO's supported. Appears to be working when looking at the logs.
No 3D TV to test tho. Outputs as Top/Bottom, Half Resolution if I'm not mistaken.

Fixed up 3D scaling in 2160p mode as well.

MySQL users will be happy as an old Davilla aka MrMC aka Sly Ol' Fox patch went in to drag configuration in from the dark ages from using the advancedsettings.xml file to configuration using the much friendlier Kodi GUI (found under Services). :)

So i finally got my C2 today and I installed LibreElec and the latest update.
However I'm having an issue with 3D and my TV not auto switching to the appropriate 3D mode.
KODI detects it as I see it pop up "3D Mode Side by Side", etc, however it is not auto switching the TVs 3D mode.
I'm using a brand new 2016 LG UHD TV.
I saw somone talk about CECv1 on the last page,(LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-7.0.1.HDMI-CECv1.tar) is this related?
Any Ideas?

- 3D ISO's and 3D HSBS/TAB movies using LibreELEC on AML do not have the ability to signal a TV to tell it to switch to its 3D mode. It has to be done manually on the TV.

- ARM devices like the RPi's and ODROID's cannot supply enough power from USB ports to run HDD's and other power hungry USB attachments reliably. You need a powered USB Hub. These are not Intel boxes you are using.

- Frequent Reset issues are usually caused by inadequate power supplies, or poor quality, thin USB to mini USB (otg) power cords.

is this spoken in general? so, there's no way, my libreelec tells my TV to switch to 3D, or are there some formats/constellations/setups which work?

sad to hear that :(. How do AML devices tell a TV the difference between 1080p, 720p and 24hz 25hz and so on to switch to the appropriate framerate automatically? Is there anybody who is involved in LibreELEC/Odroid delepoment who is in charge for this kind of questions? I would also be willing to donate something for this -_-
