HypriotOS with mainline kernel 4.12.0-rc7

Unread postby gügü » Sat Jul 01, 2017 7:08 am

Greetings Odroibians

I worked the last 4 days trying to adapt the HypriotOS for the mainline kernel 4.12.0-rc7 and I was successful !!!!! :D

HypriotOS is based on Debian Jessie and comes with Docker 17.03.1-ce preinstalled.

I've modified the image-builder-odroidc2 project on github with some modifications of mine.

You can browse through my repo and also learn what I did at : https://github.com/gdeverlant/image-builder-odroid-c2

You can download the flashable uSD image at : https://github.com/gdeverlant/image-bui ... 2/releases

Please note that there is some issues with the 4 USB ports when you want to use an external HD or any other device. The USB OTG is working well for external HD.

There is a trick to enable external HD to be recognized by the kernel when connected but you need to connect an extra USB Stick with your HD so that the 4 USBs port are recognized by the OS.

Other than that networking and SSH is working like a charm. I witnessed transfer rate up to 26 MB/s via my Gigabyte network.

The default hostname is black-pearl via port 22

Enjoy and have fun !

Cheers

No problem @odroid my pleasure!

No one wanted to help me during my learning process and some people were mean because I was asking to many questions because I didn't know how to build a kernel image with all the details.

I spent 1 week to understand the mechanism and I thought that it can help the other people who are not as experienced as most people on this forum.

I hope that it will save time.

I will continue supporting this release.

Cheers !

You shouldn't consider that we are a mean and unhelpful community. I read all your posts but I never answered because I had no experience with your problems. Also people may be busy with other issues in their lives, so you can expect a lower level of support on a highly specialized subject such as this.
But your work and attitude can surely improve the community.

Don't get me wrong the people concerned will recognize themselves... In overall I've encountered good samaritans.

I tried this image and it appears to hang in systemd, occasionally repeating the same line over and over again. I tried it on two different microsd cards and got the same thing:
