Compatible WiFi Dongle

Post by matec.89 »

Hello good! I hope they are well.
I was doing some tests with the Wifi module, from an app that turns it on and off, using the odroid wifi dongle (Wifi Module 4):

1) How can I check the ID of the dongle used? I need something similar to the blkid command, which returns the data of the partitions mounted on the eMMC and the sdcard.
One thing to keep in mind is that, when compiling the Kernel, I followed the steps of the wiki and tube to comment on the mentioned lines that appear in the "Compile" section:
Remove the last line as shown below in the file 'drivers / amlogic / wifi / Kconfig' if you are going to compile only the Android Linux kernel.
source "../hardware/wifi/realtek/drivers/8192cu/rtl8xxx_CU/Kconfig"
2) Another question, could you tell me that other dongles are compatible with the driver that comes by default for the Odroid C2 board?

USB WiFi adapters chipset ID could be found in "lsusb" output.

The following chipsets should work with the latest C2 Android image.
- Realtek RTL8811AU 5Ghz/2.4Ghz (0BDA:A811) https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/wifi-module-5a/
- Realtek RTL8812AU 5Ghz/2.4Ghz (0BDA:8812) https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/wifi-module-5/
- Realtek RTL8821CU 5Ghz/2.4Ghz (0BDA:C820, before mode switch: 0BDA:1A2B)
- Realtek RTL8188CU/S 2.4Ghz (0BDA:8176) https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/wifi-module-3/
- MediaTek(Ralink) RT5370N 2.4Ghz (148F:5370) https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/wifi-module-0/
- MediaTek(Ralink) RT5572N 5Ghz/2.4Ghz (148F:5572) https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/wifi-module-4/

I see that the Product ID is the same as the Chipset number. This is so?
With any other dongle, of any other brand, does this correspond?

If the Vendor ID and Product ID are same, it should work.
But, we cannot guarantee that all dongles on the planet have properly manufactured.

What I meant is that, just like the HardKernel dongle module 4 I can see that the product id is the same as the chipset number, the same thing happens in the rest of the dongles.
If it is like that, or not necessarily it would be that way.

The VID and PID could be programmed by the wifi adapter manufacturer.
If they didn't change it like us, it should work.
