Hi there!

Can you check gps reciever by the commands?

You can check it from console. By using UART is best way, but terminal emulator apps works also fine.

Code: Select all
$ logcat|grep gps

And, this is working logs from latest android version.

If log is doesn't like this, please check the usb gps receiver.

Code: Select all

you have to insert '|' (shift+\) key bettween logcat and grep commands.
and before do that, please enter the 'su' commands.

Just adding it's called a 'pipe' in Linux so they can perhaps read about it to better understand.

Type 'su' then hit enter, it will ask for root. Grant it then run 'logcat | grep gps'.

Don't worry about continuing to ask questions, it's what the forum is here for ;)

Did you place the GPS receiver on a fully open space?
Many USB type GPS has relatively poor RF characteristics, most of them don't work well on the window side.

A couple of users reported the Ublox-M8 based USB GPS modules have very good receive sensitivity.
But we didn't try it.

logcat|grep gps shows the NMEA information which contains the GPS satellite signal status.

"fixStatus=A" means the position/satellite information is OK.

Is the gpstest app still showing "No Fix"?

Have you connected the gps mouse before starting the app? I tried on C1 and on C2 with my Ublox7 device and I get exactly this "No Fix" when I start the GPSTest app and then after I connect the GPS mouse. So please try in this manner: Boot with connected GPS mouse or connect it right after reboot. There must not be a location symbol in the upper status line. Then start the GPSTest app then there will be a location symbol. You can check also if the location service is in mode "Device only".
If this don't help please make a "logcat|grep gps > /sdcard/gps.log" and post the file gps.log here. You can retrieve it with adb command "adb pull /sdcard/gps.log" from your C2. With only screenshot it is difficult to analyze.

Hi there!

please test your gps device on 'ubuntu' system, not on android.

If your gps device is okay, result of gpsmon is like this.

gpsd.png
(79.94 KiB) Downloaded 1138 times

please test it at outside. and I recommended it place on same antenna like iron plate.

Please post a logcat file as I ask you already. If you can't with adb you can copy the file to an usb memory stick. Without sufficient data to analyze nobody can help. Please also tell wich version of Android, you can find it in Settings/About Tablet. Also needed the type of your new gps mouse. I am using a u-blox7 VK-172 without problems, it costs less than 10$. And the one hardkernel sells also work.
Finally, it seems that this is related to this: http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=137&t=22158. I don't know if user ShCoder fixed it.

OK, try to install the windows driver for adb from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979. Another possibility to get the log would be if you remove the emmc and connect with the emmc to sd adapter to your Windows PC. On the fat partition should be the log file.
Another thing, to check or to change configuration of your gps mouse, you can install u-center software from here:https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/u-center-windows. Would be interesting if it helps if you disable GLONASS. Really don´t know what is the default configuration.
