Can I delete some extra files ie: uInitrd-3.14.*

I noticed there are a bunch of files that aren't being used *as far as I know* here is a list of them
Code: Select all
odroid@odroid64:/boot$ ls
Image                   uInitrd-3.14.29-15  uInitrd-3.14.29-59   uInitrd-3.14.79-109  uInitrd-3.14.79-92
System.map-3.14.79-115  uInitrd-3.14.29-18  uInitrd-3.14.65-61   uInitrd-3.14.79-113  uInitrd-3.14.79-93
config-3.14.79-115      uInitrd-3.14.29-23  uInitrd-3.14.65-65   uInitrd-3.14.79-114  uInitrd-3.14.79-94
initrd.img-3.14.79-115  uInitrd-3.14.29-26  uInitrd-3.14.79-106  uInitrd-3.14.79-115  vmlinuz-3.14.79-115
meson64_odroidc2.dtb    uInitrd-3.14.29-28  uInitrd-3.14.79-107  uInitrd-3.14.79-89
uInitrd-3.14.29-14      uInitrd-3.14.29-29  uInitrd-3.14.79-108  uInitrd-3.14.79-91
odroid@odroid64:/boot$ du -h uInitrd-3.14.29-23
8.0M   uInitrd-3.14.29-23

Now I know I need the Image file, the current uInitrd-3.14.79-115 and vmlinuz-3.14.79-115 because of uname
Code: Select all
Linux odroid64 3.14.79-115 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jul 10 12:13:00 BRT 2017 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

So can I delete the older files, as they are taking space 8mb a piece. Also if I could delete them, how would I go about doing that ?
As root rm uInitrd-3.14.29-26 or should I take some extra steps just to be sure.

not even uInitrd-3.14.79-115 and vmlinuz-3.14.79-115 are needed, since they are renamed to "Image" and "uInitrd" these are the files that are loaded.. every other file is basically just backup.
You should check /media/boot which the path used on Ubuntu images... /boot is not even used on Ubuntu.

You should check /media/boot which the path used on Ubuntu images... /boot is not even used on Ubuntu.

I checked /media/boot and found the following items
Code: Select all
/dev/mmcblk0p1  128M   23M  106M  18% /media/boot
->
Code: Select all
/media/boot$ ls
Image  boot.ini  boot.ini.default  boot.ini.old  display.bin  edid.bin  meson64_odroidc2.dtb  uInitrd

So I take it that /boot isn't even used to bootup the odroid session ? So it would be safe to delete all those items in /boot is what I am getting at ? I also noticed something, the Image in /boot is the exact same size as Image in /media/boot.
Code: Select all
odroid@odroid64:/boot$ du -h Image
13M   Image
odroid@odroid64:/boot$ cd /media/boot
odroid@odroid64:/media/boot$ du -h Image
13M   Image

yep... the linux-image package is extracted to /boot, and later HardKernel copies the files needed to /media/boot
So everything in /boot is just backup.
