Powering the C2

Unread postby angelscream09 » Thu Jan 11, 2018 2:01 am

Is it possible to power the C2 using a 12v AC to DC power supply. I want to see how things would work by powering it off of something with the same voltage as a car battery.

The C2 needs 5V, not 12V. Powering it with 12V will not work in the best case or will release the magic smoke in the worst case. You will need a step-down converter or something

I would be using a 12v to 5v converter like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-DC-12V-to- ... 2847808675

Ultimately for in the house testing before I mount everything I want to make sure that everything will work. I am going to get a 3a car switch to be able to start up and shut down the C2 when I start the car. For the in-house testing I want to use a toggle switch of some sort wired after the power supply and 12v to 5v converter then before the 3a car switch.

From other carputer posts the general idea is to have good filtering between the car and odroid so that engine noise doesn't reach your audio output

How would I accomplish that? Would the HiFi Dac take care of that?

I can't say for sure, sorry, but I remember that the key was getting good power to the odroid. Search the forum for carputer posts

Would that go between the DAC and the amp?
