Updated versions of Volumio 2 for C0/C1/C1+ and C2

Unread postby gkkpch » Sat Feb 04, 2017 5:21 am

You can download these here for Odroid C2 or here for Odroid C0/C1/C1+
Main changes:
- there were various issues with usb wifi dongles across platforms, I believe the Odroid part of those are now solved.
- there were issues with recognizing certain usb audio devices, this has been improved.
- there were reports of clicks and pops for various usb audio devices, this has been solved for many but we might not have covered all of them.

In case you encounter any issues, please address them in the Help section of the Volumio forum
I will follow up asap, but also monitor this DAC thread

Great news!

I've just installed Volumio 2.062 image on my C1+ and C2.
It works greatly.
My USB DAC is also working well without noise.
"Korean (한글) Language" GUI menu is also fine too. :D

The HDMI console output is enabled by default and I could skip step#2 ~ #5 in this instruction.
viewtopic.php?f=118&t=24651

But I needed to run below two commands from SSH terminal to complete the installation of "Touch Display Plugin" when the installation stopped.
Code: Select all
sudo apt update
sudo dpkg --configure -a

After reboot and complete the Plugin installation, the HDMI GUI works well.
But the full booting process looks much slower than the previous release on my C1+.
Kernel booting: around 20~ seconds
Web GUI on a remote browser: around 80~90 seconds
HDMI GUI: 100~110 seconds.

I will test other small LCD displays next week.

Just updated to this build.

My system is not able to see my wifi broadcast, although it does see *some* local broadcasts; even after manual connect in gui also through interfaces edit/shh it won't see or connect. I was able to connect once on the 2.03 build and i've been trying to find the fix all night. disable eth0 resulted with nothing.

Volumio AP & SSH are always active.

Im led to believe it may be a power saving feature limiting dongle power?

Could you perhaps report this here as a bug
Also mention your hardware and dongle.
In case the GUI works, you should also upload a log which I can analyse.
For that you need to go to the dev page: http://volumio.local/dev or http://<your-ip-address>/dev
Enter a description and then upload, you will get a link to the log which you can then mention in the post.

My bad :?
The next version will be ~ 20 seconds faster, we forgot a PR to remove a timeout value on wlan0 detection which was increased for test purposes.

I've just flashed this version and found out:

1. Initial hotspot password is not set to "volumio2"
I don't know what it was. I struggled for 10 minutes then I just plugged in eth0.

2. Hifi Shield 2 volume problem persists
Originally digital max volume by the driver was 255, where volumio should limit its volume to 40 (amixer 207) not to exceed 0dB, and now volume 100 in Volumio is amixer 207 alright, and amixer tells 207 is 100% and 0.00dB. But the audible output level is still the same.
Which means, I still have to limit Volumio volume to 40, to avoid clipping at my amplifier side, and amixer is telling a lie.

Strange, it has been, and still is, volumio2. Check /etc/hostapd/hostapd.tmpl
Code: Select all
interface=wlan0
ssid=Volumio
channel=4
driver=nl80211
hw_mode=g
auth_algs=1
wpa=2
wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
rsn_pairwise=CCMP
wpa_passphrase=volumio2

What dongle were you using? This is an issue you should follow up on the Volumio forum, so other C2 users can profit.

Yes, I discovered that too (after I already announced it was solved), very embarrassing, sorry.

This did not work for me. After the dpkg --configure -a and reboot the plugin is not listed under installed and it also does not work. I got the most informative error message ever: error: error.
How did you complete the installation?

In the first booting, I selected the "Touch Display Plugin" and it started an install process on GUI.
But it stopped in several minutes.
So I accessed the ssh for those two commands.

The breaking download of the plugin will be added to the issue list.
We would also like some help with the volume issue with ODROID-DAC2.
The suggested driver fix unfortunately did not work.

Another small bug with 2.063-2017-02-06-odroidc2:

I have one nfs mount as my music collection. Configured it through the gui, everything default. At shutdown or reboot, I get a stop job for the nfs service so it takes 90s to shutdown.

Reported it at the volumio forum:
