By the way, no idea what happen on ethernet actually. Maybe magic happen?

Maybe all the HDMI handshaking going on with the old Kernel was affecting something. I'm just happy the Audio problem is fixed for my 50 Hz mpeg2 TV viewing.

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place, but if and when new Firmware is released can I request this be included in the startup sequence in the Android distribution:

chmod 666 /sys/class/display/mode

This then allows Kodi or SPMC running on Android to dynamically refresh rate switch the TV Output to 24/50/60Hz based on the fps of the source video content.

Ok, that's a good suggestion and strongly consider to add it.

Usually a user has to install SuperSu to allow correct root permissions for SPMC / Kodi to run properly on the S805, these files also need correct permissions fixes on bootup:
chmod 666 /dev/am*
chmod 666 /sys/class/video/axis
chmod 666 /sys/class/video/screen_mode
chmod 666 /sys/class/video/disable_video
chmod 666 /sys/class/tsync/pts_pcrscr
chmod 666 /sys/class/audiodsp/digital_raw

Doing this on the new Android image, when released would Help a lot of new users and prevent problems with SPMC / Kodi running.
Thanks.

Hey, it's already released.
Try to update kernel if you run with Lubuntu,
Or flash below to run with Android

You may want to edit the first post tobetter and add that information, or create a sticky post.

SOLUTION

Hi
Just created an acc to reply to this.

I have a sony tv 46z4500 , I run an m8s android box, and I have a sony amp.
I had the sound dropping out every few minutes.

The android box is connected directly to the tv.

I fixed the sound issue by changing the resolution of the Android box from 1080 , to 720 ,60hz .

Hope this solution works for you

Hey, was this really solved?
I use the USB SPDIF dongle since a few days, and with 5.1 passthrough I get very short audio drops (probably 200-500ms) while playing movies in OpenElec. The drops happen every few minutes, sometimes more often. When navigating menus in Kodi it happens every few seconds.
Can anybody help with this?

What hz do you have the audio set to in KODI?

I am using a C1 with the latest Openelec 6.95.8 from wrxtasy. Unfortunately there is no Hz setting in Kodi in the GUI. There never was in any Openelec version. I already tried to modify the asound.conf (as I also had to modifiy it to get the USB SPDIF working in the first place) to change the Hz. It looks like this at the moment:

Code: Select all
pcm.!default {
  type plug
  slave {
    pcm "hw:1,0"
    rate 48000
  }
}
ctl.!default {
  type hw
  card 0
}

I am not quite sure if the "rate" command is at the right position. At least it is not affecting the short ms dropout problematic. I tried 48000 and 44100, no effect on the problem at all.

A short update: tried it with LAN instead of WLAN and it works if it gets the data via LAN. LAN is unfortunately no option in my environment despite for tests.
The fact that the problem only exists in case a WLAN stick is used seems to point in the direction of some USB and/or interrupt issue at the USB SPDIF dongle. An interrupt load problem was suspected earlier if i remember correct. Any idea what to do about this?

Your could try lowering the rate to 44100 and in Kodi Settings > System > Audio output > Limit Sampling Rate (kHz) > 44.1

Have you played around with the cache settings in Advancedsettings.xml in Kodi ?

Try increasing the Video Cache, Audio should be cached along with it.

This is what I was talking about, I know it helps on the XU4 but not sure about C1+.

Wrxtasy, this setting does not exist on the C1 in your Openelec build. Should it be there? An if yes, any idea why it is not there?

Regarding the video cache increase suggestion: video is perfectly smooth without any stuttering. It's definitely not a problem of a buffer underun due the the wireless network being not fast enough.

I also did a bit further testing: when running via WLAN and running an iperf network test in the background the following happens: video is still perfectly fine, sound becomes unusable, the drops become longer (might be half a seconds) and happen once in a few seconds. In case i do the same iperf test with a LAN connection sound is still fine. Therefore I even more strongly suspect that the WLAN USB driver and the SPDIF USB driver together are too much load for the C1+ :-( Question is: is there potential in the drivers or the kernel, or is this a limitation of the chip?

I don't think its Kodi. I have same problem on my Minix. Last night I suspect that maybe some other app. I deleted AirDroid app and restart Minix. Now it works ok all day long.

Hi everyone,
I am facing this issue on my Android set top box. I am trying to fix issue for my box. Could anyone please explain more detail the way you guys solved this issue in Kernel image??
I've read the topic and tried to use chmod, change the resolution... but all of that did not work.
My set top box is based on Amlogic S805 chipset, and running Kitkat 4.4.2 OS.
The audio drops intermittently frequently when I'm watching youtube video on youtube application version 12.47.58.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.
