C1 Not booting properly without serial adapter

Unread post by sasa » Fri Feb 13, 2015 6:48 am

Hi,

I have strange problem, my C1 won't boot properly everytime I plug in the power supply, things are as follows:

If I have only the board with nothing connected on it (usb device, or serial to usb adapter on UART port) it almost never boots from the first time I plug the power (by boot I mean indication of booting -> steady blue light), then I disconnect the power and reconnect it back, and then after random times of repeating it finally boots;

But there is exception, if I plug usb to serial adapter (Silabs CP2102, GND, RX and TX lines) to computer (with or without the opened com port), it boots every time on the first time I plug in the power, with remark that sometimes it repeats the first line of boot sequence until it says "PASS:1" (QA5:A;SVN:B72;POC:17F;STS:0;BOOT:0;INIT:10;BOOT:1;INIT:0;READ:0;CHECK:0;PASS:1;).

The power adapter is 5V 1.2A which is enough for only board that consumes power.

Thanks in advance,
Sasa.

This is a known issue with certain sd-cards. Try a using a known working sd-card.

Really? How can an sd card explain that serial adapter helps with booting?

If it helps as added information, I'm using Adata 16GB class 10 sdhc microsd card, with uhs disabled in boot.ini.

Thank you for the link to the other post which confirmed me that this is not only my problem.

I will continue on that post.
