Disable error logging for I2C?

Unread postby Floid » Fri Feb 23, 2018 11:35 pm

I'm getting loads of I2C errors on my C1 every day and dmesg output is full of it:

dmesg:
Code: Select all
[7274126.379382@2] i2c i2c-1: Controller Error! manual_en = 0, ack_ignore = 1
[7274126.379640@2] i2c i2c-1: [aml_i2c_xfer] error ret = -5 (-EIO) token 1, master_no(1) 100K addr 0x20
[7280116.441124@1] i2c i2c-1: [aml_i2c_xfer] error ret = -5 (-EIO) token 1, master_no(1) 100K addr 0x20
[7283562.431210@2] i2c i2c-1: Controller Error! manual_en = 0, ack_ignore = 1
[7283562.431472@2] i2c i2c-1: [aml_i2c_xfer] error ret = -5 (-EIO) token 1, master_no(1) 100K addr 0x20

However I haven't seen any errors on the I2C device. It also doesn't matter which kind of cable I use. At the moment I'm using a shielded short cable with the same errors.

So is there a quick way to just disable these error messages? I don't want to recompile the whole kernel because I've never done that before.

You have to recompile the kernel after editing the AML-I2C driver source code.
