Alternative RTC power pins?

Unread post by schmidtbag » Mon Feb 19, 2018 11:21 am

I'm in need of the RTC backup battery, and I found the dedicated pins for the battery to be a little inconvenient to use, since I don't have the appropriate Molex connector. I tried finding one with wires pre-crimped, but I could only find them from Alibaba in bulk of 100 or more. I already have a compartment for the battery to go in, I just don't have a way to connect it to the board.

Is there another alternative to powering the RTC? Perhaps the 3v pin from the GPIO header, if I use a diode?

No. You have to use the dedicated connector. Refer the schematics https://dn.odroid.com/S805/Schematics/o ... 160226.pdf

I found a compatible connector cable assembly in ebay. But its polarity seems to be different.

Cool - I'm fine with getting that connector if that's all I need. I assume you mean that the black and red wires are supposed to be swapped?

Right. The wires should be swapped.

Alright thanks for the clarification - I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
