Odroid C0: how to connect PCM5102?

Post by XFer »

Hello,
I got this nice little i2s DAC:

I populated the appropriate C0 header J7:

I have a few doubts vs. connections maybe someone figured it out? :)
I seem to understand that SCK should be grounded in order for the DAC to generate its own clock?
Moreover: C0 has "MCLK" which is missing on the PCM5102, while PCM5102 has "BCK" which is missing on the C0.

Another question: I suppose one has to enable a kernel module for the new audio device to show up (I'm using ALSA alone. Ubuntu official minimal 18.04 image, headless). Will it have volume control?

Thanks in advance for any hint

Compare the schematics with our PCM5102 based sound cards.

I can't find the C1/5102 connection schema on that page.
The schematics (PDF) show that, for example, 5102 "LRCK" pin goes to "GPIOA0.BIT10", but there's no "GPIOA0.BIT10" on the J7 header of the C0.

The signal labels were based on the ODROID-C2.
Just match 7pin signals one-to-one on C1+/C0.
Check the signal names on the U1 buffer IC too.

Sorry, probably I was not clear.
In the PDF you linked I can not tell how the pins of the 5102 are connected to the pins of the 7-pin header of the C2 or C1 or C0.
And in the pictures at https://wiki.odroid.com/accessory/sound ... oom_bonnet the connections are not visible.

PCM5102 DAC to Odroid C2 J7 Header. Vin = 3 / GND =1 / LRCK = 5 / DIN = 7 / BCK = 6
Works with Android but have not had any luck with UBUNTU MATE as of yet. One day perhaps....
