Odroid C1+ & OpenELEC 7.0.0 - Kodi Jarvis 16.1

Unread postby diokobol » Sun Jun 05, 2016 4:26 pm

Good morning,
how can I keep the wireless connection enabled on every reboot. If I do I enable the "OpenELEC" menu to restart Toggle Next I find disabled again. It keeps me instead Ethernet disabled and advanced wireless menu.

many thanks for any help.

I'm pretty happy with this release.
Honestly OpenELEC on the C1 is very nearly as fast as the C2. It even surprised me once again. :)

Without further waiting:

is there a chance for matching tvheadend?

EDIT: Found working one here: http://www.wetekforums.com/v/index.php?p=/discussion/19394/latest-tvheadend-for-wetek-play v4.0.9

Is there a chance to have write access on external HDD, connected to Odroid, from my computer (ethernet) . Now I have permission denied. I would like to copy some videos and pictures from my computer to external HDD that is connected on Odroid C+1 and on the same network. I have access over SSH.

Forgot.... my extrenal HDD is NTFS formated and will like to have write access after reboot to.

Just install ntfs-3g through ssh, that should do it. I've done that on debian but I say it should do the trick here aswell.

My lan has been playing up again the last day or two
on checking the odroid has managed to pull master browser yet again

on checking the default samba.conf

os level = 20
preferred master = auto
domain master = auto
local master = yes

plz either fix samba when its master browser
or try and remember to set

local master = no
preferred master = no
os level = 1

apt-get is disabled in this OpenELEC and I think that ntfs-3g is allready installed. Also the fstab is read only, so i can't make any changes to this file neither....hm

@2004RuN

I had the exact same problem the drive would mount but only as read only.
The only thing that worked for me was to add this to autostart.sh:
Code: Select all
 #!/bin/sh
 (
 sleep 20;
 cd /media/;
 umount /dev/sda1;
 mkdir "drive name"
 mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 "drive name"

Hi Cleaner

If I make that file autostart.sh in Configfiles folder and reboot Odroid then with Windows Explorer over from my PC i'm still unable to have write access.

If I connetct over SSH, then in folder /var/media/ is see folder with name given in autostart.sh file but at the end it has Questionmark and all my content is also visible.

I hope you understand what i meant.

Code: Select all
OpenELEC:/var/media # ls -l
total 4
drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root            40 Jun 14 20:24 Disk?
dr-x------    1 root     root          4096 May  1 19:12 Filmi 3

And my autostart.sh file looks like this

Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
 (
 sleep 20;
 cd /media/;
 umount /dev/sda1;
 mkdir Disk
 mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 Disk
 )&

For anyone struggling to make openvpn work with OE on the C1+ this is how i managed to get it going

To save time later on make sure that you show hidden files in Kodi by going to system>appearance>File Lists and check the "show hidden files and directories" button

Now download and install http://milhouse.openelec.tv/builds/addons/Generic/openvpn/network.openvpn-6.0.0-%231128-milhouse.zip
Although this is intended as an Rpi1 addon it works on the odroid. This will install under addons>programs as openvpn (note the lower case "o") This is just the binary and you won't directly do anything with it.

At this point I rebooted.

I use PriavteInternetAccess for my VPN so i then downloaded the vpn configuration including the certificate files from http://www.privateinternetaccess.com/openvpn/openvpn.zip
I then extracted the files
"ca"
"crl.pem"
"UK London.ovpn"
to
"/storage/.config/vpn-config"
(if vpn-config isnt there just make a new directory)

I then I made a file called
"pass.txt"
in
"/storage/.config/vpn-config"
This file only contains 2 lines

myPIAusername
myPIApassword

Make sure that you are using the socks username/password NOT the website login username/password

I then edited the VPN file I wanted to use ("UK London.ovpn" in my case) and changed the path details

ca ca.crt
changed to
ca /storage/.config/vpn-config/ca.crt

auth-user-pass
changed to
auth-user-pass /storage/.config/vpn-config/pass.txt

crl-verify crl.pem
changed to
crl-verify /storage/.config/vpn-config/crl.pem

Some people have found that the .ovpn files dont work if there are spaces in the name which is why I saved mine as
"UKLondon.ovpn"
with no spaces.

Next thing to install was Brian Hornsbys OpenVPN for Kodi https://github.com/brianhornsby/script.openvpn/releases/download/v2.1.0/script.openvpn-2.1.0.zip
When you install this go and make a cup of tea. It might look as though it isnt installing but on my Odroids it took over five minutes to complete.
Eventually Openvpn for Kodi will show in your addons. This will install under
addons>programs
as
Openvpn
(note the upper case "O") This is the program you will be using NOT "openvpn" (lower case "o")

Once Openvpn has installed run it and open the configuration page.
On the OpenVPN tab go to
Openvpn Settings>OpenVPN
click in the "OpenVPN" box and then browse to
"/storage/.kodi/addons/network.openvpn/bin/openvpn"
and the OK button will become available.
Now still on the OpenVPN tab select
"Import OpenVPN Configuration File"
and browse to
"/storage/.config/vpn-config/"
and select the .ovpn file you edited earlier (mine was UKLondon.ovpn) You will then be asked what name you want to call this connection, I used uklondon.

Now select Ok and once back at the main Openvpn settings box select OK again.

Now run Openvpn and, all being well, you should get a connection box pop up asking which connection to use. Select your saved connection.

If everything works well you can make Kodi automatically connect to your VPN at startup. In your userdata folder (where guisettings.xml, rssfeeds.xml, passwords.xml etc are stored) make a file called
"autoexec.py"
You want to edit this file to contain the following two lines with a blank line between them

import xbmc

xbmc.executebuiltin('XBMC.RunScript(script.openvpn,uklondon)')

Replace "uklondon" with whatever you saved your connection as.

Reboot your Odroid and hopefully shortly after the gui apears you should get a box saying that OpenVPN has connected.

EDIT: You can add more connections if you like and then either run Openvpn and choose or set your preferred connection in autoexec.py

Good luck

Dear wrxtasy,

Since last update, my hyperion system don't work at all.
I've reinstall it with binary from this topics: not working. Reinstall from hyperion installer, got this at every line in the log:
Code: Select all
AMLOGICGRABBER ERROR: [int AmlogicGrabber::grabFrame(Image<ColorBgr>&)] Read of device failed (erno=11): Resource temporarily unavailable
KODICHECK ERROR: Kodi Connection error (0)

Any idea what going on ??
I've try my system with Hyperion Android app and work great. So maybe it's in the new kernel.

Thanks for reply

Hi All! First time posting as for now i've always found an answer for my problem in this community.

However there is one thing that i can't achieve alone (simply non skilled enough): my dream is to have an openelec-kodi-moonlight system but i cannot find nor create a moonlight-embedded addon that works with odroid.
Is there a way to get that addon?

Thank you in advance!

PS: if this is the wrong section please redirect me (I had to make a choice between this forum and the moonlight one but i thought that this fit better for my question)

Hi guys had a bit of time to sort out a few OpenELEC 7.0.0 issues with a OE v7.0.1 bug fix release:

- MySQL configuration moved from advancedsettings.xml to the Kodi GUI (under Services), a Davilla (MrMC) mod.
- (Re) added a Kernel patch for amvideocap, the ge2d_config x and y co-ords were wrong. May help Hyperion users.
- MyGica T230 Kernel patch included.
- fixed up default samba.conf for Shonk
- Added OpenVPN to OpenELEC
- Reworked lirc, so MCE, XBOX 360 and Apple remotes work out of the box.
- Customised remote.xml for the HK IR remote. To revert to Standard Kodi remote control behavior, see below for details.
- PopcornMix Repo added for Shadertoy screensavers and music visualization. Very nice.
- Audio and Video Sync tweaks. This may allow the HiFi Shield to work correctly (untested)
- And finally the long awaited Gerald Dachs and Raybuntu, improved AML HDMI-CEC Kernel and libCEC mods to allow CEC control of various HDMI connected devices ( see Kodi > Settings > System > Input devices > Peripherals).
Raybuntu CEC Support in the LibreELEC C2 thread.

OpenELEC-Odroid.arm-7.0.1.tar
OpenELEC-Odroid.arm-7.0.1.img.gz

HiFi Shield
See this THIS post for details...
I believe for users with a HiFi Shield, this asound.conf needs to be placed in the /storage/.config directory:
Code: Select all
pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave {
        pcm "hw:1,0"
        format S16_LE
        rate 48000
    }
}

ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card 1
}

Revert to old Kodi remote.xml behavior
Copy and paste this remote.xml file and save here:
Code: Select all
nano .kodi/userdata/keymaps/remote.xml
CTRL-O to save, CTRL-X to exit
reboot

Hi wrxtasy,

With the risk of boring you to hell with this question, why do you stay with OpenELEC for the C1(+)? And when (if ever) will the C1(+) get LibreELEC?

Despite these questions I do want to thank you for this release! You are the best :)

I cant get mpd and rtorrent to work in OE7 as they did in OE6
mpd wont even show up in ps, and even though I have set mpd log to verbose the log file is empty.
rtorrent shows up in ps, but the connection between rtorrent and rutorrent seems to need a fix...

I imagine rebasing all his changes to libreelec is complex and he simply doesn't have time currently.

No CEC on LG TV
Not sure if we needed to configure something or what.

EDIT:
Take it back. It just takes some jiggering.
I set device id to 1, reboot device and power off TV. All is working now.

Has it worked before? Because old/cheap HDMI seem to not support CEC.
I think the first one was I turned off simplink, reboot device wait for it to be up, turn simplink on.

@wrxtasy
Thanks for the new build with hifi-shield support.

But with your asound.conf, kodi has no sound at all.

I then tried aound.conf from this http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=118&t=20338. Now I get sound output from both hdmi and hifi-shield simultaneously.

But the problem is that I can't choose just one sound output between them. And still notice that sound from hifi-shield is out of sync with hdmi. So I suppose there is still audio and video sync issue with hifi-shield.

Has anyone with hifi-shield dac succeed with choosing between hdmi sound and hifi-shield?

Is it possible that the step 5 from this thread http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=en:c1_hifi_shield may fix the issue? I think I used to do this on ubuntu and it works. I already tried this too with OpenELEC but can't get write access to modified the file.

Regards.

Ps. there are steps before getting hifi-shield to works though:
1. enable dac in boot.ini file
2. create odroid.conf file into configfiles/modules.-load.d folder with these two lines;
snd-soc-pcm5102
snd-soc-odroid-dac

Hi wrxtasy, are there any chances to bring the moonlight-embedded addon also in Openelec?

Thank you!

IS anyone having audio going out of sync issues with the latest build? x265 specifically?

If i pause and let the C1 catch its breath the sync issues go away (for a short time) and slowly return. Its not the end of the world having to pause every so often but its an irritant.

Anyone else seeing this? im running Nox but next to that i have nothing custom going on.

Thanks,

Since the latest build my audio/lipsync issues are solved, no matter what format is used. I do have the performance tweak in place:
echo 1632000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Maybe this helps?

I do have an issue with resuming since 7.0.0, most of the time tis doesn't work and when I try again to resume playback, the movie or tv show starts from the beginning. Annoying really.

Haven't had time to dive into debugging, anybody else experiencing this?

Thanks Joey, ill bump my overclocking up a bit (currently had it at a relaxed 1200000). Oddly i haven't been experiencing resume issues, but ill pay more attention next time i resume. I also noticed there is a 7.0.1 update, ill give that a shot at the same time and post my results.

Tangent question:
i noticed in the 7.0.1 release notes: MySQL configuration moved from advancedsettings.xml to the Kodi GUI (under Services), a Davilla (MrMC) mod. does it completely ignore the advancedsettings config now for SQL settings, or is it simply an alternate way of setting it? I really dislike this trend of advancedsettings playing less of a part **cough** <seeksteps> **cough**

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanx for that release, specially for the lirc improvement.
But since I installed the 7.0.1 version (via tar update then with img.gz), usb is not working, neither the disk nor the wifi usb key.
And there are some glitches on the left of the screen, like console output.

Can you supply more information - WHICH image are you trying to load?
Specifically are you trying to load a Pi OpenELEC image?
Or one of wrxstasy images from the opening post of this thread?

@wrxtasy - first, let me stress, you don't 'owe' anybody anything;
but you have previously hinted you might consider a LibreElec release for C1+
Can you just give honest update on whether this will ever happen, or do we just accept that for C1+ there is no update path and either live with what we have or give up on it and move on to C2?

That sounds kinda like a 'slam' and it is far from my intent to imply anything negative - you put a LOT of work into this and I'm sure everyone is grateful.
I (and I'm sure many others) would just like to know if the development for C1+ is dead and make our decisions accordingly, or whether to hold out hope.
Ultimately jumping to C2 makes sense.

I use android on c1 and this openelec version is so much advanced. I am forced to use Kodi v15 in android due to missing dynamic auto refresh rate possibility. Hope that the devs will fix it soon

Meanwhile I don't think anything is missing in openelec version. Last time I used it, Kodi 16 was flying in my c1 .

Indeed, nothing is missing in OpenELEC for C1. Also I don't know what do you mean about missing dynamic auto refresh rate possibility. It's working great with my Viera set. It successfully adjust TV's HZ according to the video being played. Whether the TV supports it, is an another topic to discuss.

Of course nothing's really missing. Not visually at least. But for example the C2 just received an update to fix a long standing memory leak in Kodi on arm platforms (which also the C1(+) belongs to). If the releases for C1(+) and C2 were in sync the C1(+) would also benefit of these progressions. And wrxtasy once said, a long time ago, that the C1(+) would also get LibreELEC and that eventually the source would compile for both architectures. Yet it seems the C1(+) is the forgotten sibling.

Here is the dynamic issue, better described that I have in a android with Kodi 16 and up.

Don't get me wrong. I wish @wrtasy brings libreelec. We all benefit.

Just wanted to say that still the openelec is a quality release compared to android one. I still believe that there is life for c1.

This Openelec builds are stable as hell, everything is running out of the box. I don't think we have a critical need of LibreElec.

That said, it would be great if Wrxtasy could add his amlogic hyperion version to C1 Kodi addons repository. It takes some issues to compile and integrate it by ourselves. :)

Nah the C1 is not forgotten, it's just I'm pretty time constrained wth 3 LibreELEC distros on the go at the moment and a couple OpenELEC ones plus AML device testing for a well known Kodi sponsor. I will need to buy a dedicated Linux development machine as I've run out of compile space on my Mac.
Yes there are a couple of issues I want to fix for the C1 and Kodi as well as transferring everything to LibreELEC.
Believe me it's on the list of things to do.

My C1 running OE at the moment just sits on the Network and gets used as a TvHeadend backend server. Has not crashed for months.

That's all I needed to know :D

I don't really care personally whether its OE or LE - and just that it will at least keep up with new Kodi releases
Anything beyond is just a bonus.
All the work you do is MOST appreciated
