Problem solved! The problem came from an incorrect naming because of HEVC in bracket => moviename (HEVC).mkv
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your help Hominidae

I'm pretty sure it's not something it receives through the IR-receiver of my Windows MCE remote as I unplugged it to rule that out. What might cause this? As I was under the impression that CEC is completely disabled when that line is marked out?!
Anyone an idea about this?
It still happens, in every 6.0.x and every 6.95.x.
Powering off the TV sends the HDMI CEC shutdown, but that only brings the power menu in kodi - it's the hardkernel faulty implementation of their hacks around CEC. Odroid don't have a true CEC, it's a hacky implementation that in the end sends key-events to the system, and I bet the "power key" event is issued.

A way around it is maybe making a custom keymap.xml for a shutdown / power key...

wrxtasy, any idea on this?

It's not so much much Hardkernel as AMLogic.

Same HDMI-CEC behavior on all AMLogic media players. They all use the AMLogic modified Linux Kernel itself to handle HDMI-CEC.

Any ideas, yes, follow this thread as see if anything eventuates:

I had to change my Tvheadend setup back to the Pi, I kept getting this error in the syslog and it would cause long pauses in the KODI interface.

Code: Select all

_hcd_isoc_complete:Uknown urb status -2
KODI log showed nothing, nor did the CPU usage increase when this happened (happened constantly). The root cause is my TV tuner. It's definitely a kernel level issue.

@rooted, this sounds like the USB driver issues. Do a "lsusb -t" and note the speed of the devices. Move anything that is not high-speed (480mb) to the USB OTG port. This prevents the USB split transactions that cause the issue.
Alternatively, I have been using my ATSC tuner without incident with tvheadend by placing it as the only device on the USB OTG port.

@wrxtasy, I patched the IR controller issue in the experimental kernel a few days ago.

I only had a USB 2.0 (externally powered) HD and my ATSC tuner (KWorld) plugged in to the C1+.

I didn't think about using the OTG port, I may give that a try.

Dear @wrxtasy, the last sd card image is 6.95.3 right? Is safe to jump from this version to the latest via tar upgrade or I've to do all upgrade steps?

Yes, I've always done a tar upgrade and my kodi version is the latest available. But now I've to setup two new C1+ and I was asking if the last sd card image available was the 6.95.3

If this is the last sdcard image available, it's safe to install it and after upgrade immediatly via the tar file to the 6.96.0 or I've to upgrade first to 6.95.4, then to 6.95.5 and finally to 6.95.6?

Just flash your SD cards with 6.95.3 image and pick whichever .tar file you want and update.
You can also downgrade with the .tar method to an earlier version as well.

PS. A fix is inbound for for the long standing OE GUI tearing issue finally. Happy days !!!

WRXTSY what settings to use if i have a usb hdmi cec adapter from pulse eight?

Disable CEC in boot.ini doesn't work.

If i set 0x4000 in kodi after reboot it loses setting and go back to hdmi 1.
Is it possible to use CEC on odroid like the same way on rpi2?

Please help!

Use the HDMI CEC Addon for On/Off I posted up the Link for in post #1

AMLogic use a different. simpler method for HDMI CEC. Its not as comprehensive as the RPi implementation.
As an example you cannot control the Volume of an attached AVR.

There is Pulse Eight stuff buried somewhere in this thread if you can find it. I believe someone was using one.

I have Beelink mxq ( http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-sup ... elink-MXQ= )
It's the same amlogic s805 hardware.
The developer, kszaq stopped developing 4 months ago.
Is any way to install odroid version of OE to my box?
The kszaq version of openelec (at github.com you can find) support hdmi-cec out of the box.
And I noticed, my mxq with original android rom, and original player software can bitstream hd audio (dolby hd). Under openelec not :(
Is any way to make support hd audio bitstream at openelec?

Thanks

I can confirm that cec on the pulse eight adapter works exactly the same on odroid as the cec on my raspberry pi. I am using the latest release from this thread. I also have the following line in my boot.ini to disable the odroid built in cec.

setenv cec "0"

I didn't do anything else, it just worked straight out of the box

@envagyok

No chance I'm afraid, these versions will not be compatible with a MXQ even though they both use a AMLogic S805.
HDMI does work on the C1+ out of the box as well, just not as well as you would get on say an RPi2.

No S8xx platform will give you HD Audio Bitstreaming out of the box. 7.1 HD Audio usually just bitstreams the 5.1 Audio Core. This is a very well know fact for all S8xx platforms, from any manufacturer.

==================================================

BIG BUMP of the thread here as a Major GPU driver fix has just gone up that makes the OpenELEC / Kodi GUI on the C1+ nice and smooth finally and fixes the GUI tearing !

Enjoy !

Yes soon... compiler flat chat at the moment with a few different platforms on the go as well as 3D MVC development.
Pretty easy to plug the driver fixes into Isengard, its the compiling that takes time, even on a fast 12GB i5 iMac.

Thanks for the gift. If found it working better on my C1+
But there is a small issue with CEC. After working properly for a time (1 hour and half or more) hdmi stops controlling the box. I need to reboot from ssh to get it work again

You can login over ssh and do this to fix CEC

Code: Select all

echo 0 > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/cec_config

echo f > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/cec_config

Is there anyway to install a mysql server on this image? Or has anyone compiled a image with a mysql server? Or even a guide to build this openelec image with the mysql server in a ELI5 format. Right now I am facing the fact, I might have to leave this wonderful openelec build because I need my C1 to run a mysql server. Debian minimal might be calling my name.

hello everybody,
first of all thanks for this firmware
I have an odroid C1+ with a 16GB eMMC memory and used openelec on it.
Of course I have the latest version (from january).
I just tried a 1080p x265 video and it is not working (picture is freezing a lot)

is there some settings that I need to do to make this run ?
Or do I need to install some other firmware ?

Or is the c1+ not compatible with 1080p H265 encoded file ?

@Takenoverover83, I suspect its a Debian distro if you want to run an actual MySQL database, the only thing I have ever read for OpenELEC is this:
http://openelec.tv/forum/112-mysql-setu ... n-openelec

@alain57, every 8-bit x265 I throw at OE on the C1+ plays fine, even high bitate stuff. I have a lot of x265 test files.
Are you sure you are playing 8-bit x265(HEVC) and not 10-bit. The AMLogic S8xx series can only decode 8-bit video.

Kodi refresh rate switching turned on ?
System > Settings > Video > Playback > Adjust Display Refresh Rate > On Start/Stop

TV Set to its 24p movie mode (if needed) ?

C1+ is perfectly able to play 1080p h265 (HVEC) files as long as they are coded with 8 bit color! 10 Bit color h265 cannot be played using hardware acceleration on AMLogic S8xx chipsets. You will need a device with AMLogic S9xx chipset for that.

I tested this new 6.95.5 version with GUI fixes, but it seems that MyGica T230 support was not included :(. Is it possible to include the patch for T230 support? Thanks!

@wrxtasy,
Wow this version really is the best. The GUI finally is as smooth as it is on the RPi2B+.
I only have a small (milliseconds) freeze every so often at random intervals (most noticable on the RSS-feed ticker).
Any idea what might cause that? I hardly see any CPU load when it's idle in the main menu.

Hi wrxtasy can you please put the latest LIBCEC 3.0.1 in the jarvis build tomorrow?

Compare to the rpi libcec settings in kodi there are no setting for Remote button press delay, Remote button press repeat and Remote button prsess release in your build. ;)

This HDMI CEC question gets asked so often now I'm going to put specific info for it on Page #1 ;)

The AMLogic implementation of HDMI CEC is not the same as the RPi2 that uses the Opensource Libcec. AMLogic HDMI CEC goes via the Linux Kernel using a much simpler method that is not compatible at all with the Libcec packaged into Kodi. That is why it's Greyed out.

You cannot configure HDMI CEC with AML Hardware from within Kodi at all, and I have yet to see a working easy to use configuration interface for the AMLogic implementation.

Danny_ice has all the Config Options seen in this post because he has actual proper Pulse8 HDMI CEC hardware attached to his C1+

Ok i understand but i also use Pulse8 HDMI CEC hardware and the CEC settings are NOT greyed so ik can configure cec within kodi on my C1+
So i think the libcec package within this build is libcec 3.0.0 and the latest version of libcec is 3.0.1 and i think the latest libcec wil fix some issues like losing connection when using the cec setting menu on my samsuing tv. As example when i press menu on my samsung remote cec setting appear and the cec connection is lost so i have to reconnect.

So i meant if is possible to include the latest libcec package in your future builds?

Sorry for misunderstanding ;)

This is exactly right. The settings are enabled and directly address the CEC implementation of the Pulse8 adapter; NOT the AML CEC driver. Again you cannot affect the AML CEC implementation from within Kodi. If you do NOT have a pulse8 adapter plugged in, the settings will be grey. If you DO have a pulse8 adapter plugged in, the settings will be available; in that case again these settings will only apply to the pulse8 adapter and not the AML CEC implementation.

i also use Pulse8 HDMI CEC hardware and the CEC settings are NOT greyed
This is exactly right. The settings are enabled and directly address the CEC implementation of the Pulse8 adapter; NOT the AML CEC driver. Again you cannot affect the AML CEC implementation from within Kodi. If you do NOT have a pulse8 adapter plugged in, the settings will be grey. If you DO have a pulse8 adapter plugged in, the settings will be available; in that case again these settings will only apply to the pulse8 adapter and not the AML CEC implementation.
Thanks for the explanation i'm happy that my adapter works i and can live with the issue that i have to reconnect i hope the will be a fix in the future. :D

Thanks for the gift. If found it working better on my C1+
But there is a small issue with CEC. After working properly for a time (1 hour and half or more) hdmi stops controlling the box. I need to reboot from ssh to get it work again
You can login over ssh and do this to fix CEC

Code: Select all

echo 0 > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/cec_config

echo f > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/cec_config
Thanks @ rooted !!!! :o

WOW! This fixes the only CEC issue I have had - "When HDMI inputs are switched...then switched back CEC control is lost".

I can now just SSH in when switching inputs back to Kodi and run this :

Code: Select all

echo 0 > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/cec_config

echo f > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/cec_config
and CEC control returns instantly!

Thanks so much! I am loving this MK808b+ clone stick. I wonder if this can be implemented somewhere else (kernel?) so that users dont have to SSH in and enter that when switching HDMI inputs. Any thoughts?

wrxtasy wrote: @vdb86 - thanks for the info. I've found that as well. Regarding drivers for WiFi, users are on their own there. Thats even if you have Kernel support for usb devices from Hardkernel themselves in the first place. They are defiantly lacking in that area due to the old 3.10.80+ version of the Linux Kernel used.
Hi wrxtasy, I've posted in issue section of odroid C1+ forum regarding the old Linux kernel, they responded that they have updated the kernel.
http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 27#p121027

Does this mean that we might see more support for some drivers that are available on the Raspberry Pi?

Hello,
I try desperately to use the remote to control my touch harmony ODROID C1 OpenELEC in 6.0.3, but nothing happens ...
I begin to wonder if the IR receiver is enabled / functional. Are there any manipulation done to turn it on or it runs by default?
thanks for your help ...

After updating to this release I can't write to my HDD connected to C1,+ over Samba.
It says that I require a permission.
I tried putting password on Samba shares but that didn't help.

I got two C1+ devices for the family, parents and sister, mainly because of the simplicity of OpenElec and the H.265 support. So thanks a lot for this project!

Considering the users the devices had to be as easy as possible to use and 'fool proof'. So I decided the easiest solution was to just plug them in a TV usb port and let the C1+ power on and off with the TV, meaning hard power-offs all the time. After a cycle or three I would encouter the following problem, which is not surprising, but which I hadn't thought of as a Windows user.

Exactly what is says, a corrupt file system and the Linux disk repair system gave up trying to repair it.
This is either due to a SD card failing or pulling the power cord too many times at the wrong moment.
I hope you have used the OpenELEC configurator to backup your system and settings.
Google helped me discover that this was most likely due to the fact that there's no journaling on the filesystem. So I reflashed the SD card again but this time created the partition myself, with journaling. I understand this is supposed to make the filesystem slower but I haven't exactly noticed any difference. It's just a media player after all.

They've been running for months now and the problem hasn't occured since. Thought I'd share in case anyone else who can't be arsed to power down properly encounters this :)

@baerdt, Cheers, yes its progressing nicely this OE, especially now I have direct contact to the OE / WeTek guys and Codesnake, one of the AMLogic Kernel devs, who is also shortly to become a Kodi Android team-developer.
Knowing my way around GitHub pretty well now also helps. :)

@Xili, Try programming the Harmony as a MCE Compatible IR Remote. There is a MCE lircd.conf file floating around here somewhere that will likely work. That is to be copied into the Configfiles directory.

@vdb86, seems the Post in that thread was lost in Translation. No extra support has gone into the Kernel for usb WiFi dongles.

@ kladiv, just use the OpenELEC 6.95.3.0 - Kodi Jarvis 16.0 Beta3 SD card image to flash to your SD card, then the usual .tar file update method to update to the latest Jarvis release.

@ Pienoet, I will definitely remember this time to put the MyGica T230 patch into the Kernel and update the libCEC when I do a OE 6.95.6 / Kodi Jarvis RC1 release shortly. Been busy with OE on the WeTek Core, fixing Interlaced mpeg2 .vob video playback. This will benefit all AML platforms. :)

@wrxrasy
thank you for your answer.
I performed this manipulation

Code: Select all

cp /etc/lirc/lircd.conf.rpi /storage/.config/lircd.conf
reboot
However, despite that, it does not work ...

Did you program your Harmony Touch as a MCE Remote using the Harmony software first ?
I think its online programable these days.

Dear wrxtasy,
would it be possible to compile this plugin:
https://github.com/simphax/pvr.iptvsimple
So the iptvsimple gets a recording function.
It would be really nice 8-)

I refer to my own post.
I guess it is a problem with the DTS pass through. I tried the latest 6.0.0 Version, but the drop out still happens. Could someone confirm that issue? Do this issue appear also for the uprising Jarvis?
xdcc_master wrote:hello, I have got problems with audio stuttering. I tried it with audio delay, but it doesn't work.
The wiring is really simple: <Odroid C1><--HDMI--><Onkyo TX-SR608><--HDMI--><LG LA6608>
Pass-Trough is activated.

(Another issue is CEC. It works so far, but I can not control the volume of the AV Receiver. That would be a really nice feature!.)

wrxtasy wrote:@baerdt, Cheers, yes its progressing nicely this OE, especially now I have direct contact to the OE / WeTek guys and Codesnake, one of the AMLogic Kernel devs, who is also shortly to become a Kodi Android team-developer.

Thanks for your work wrxtasy !

odroid-C1+
8Gib SD card from odroid
flashed SD card with OpenELEC-Odroid-C1-6.95.3.0.img worked great. Installed some repoes. worked without any issues for about a week.
copied OpenELEC-Odroid-C1-6.95.5.0.tar to /storage/.update booted and the update ran & restarted. Everything seemed fine except no mouse cursor/pointer. Keyboard works. ran a hard reset. still no mouse cursor/pointer installed the Kodi log uploder, restarted a couple time and uploaded the log. I have no idea if it is help full or not. I wasn't sure how to display the log so I included it as an attachment

Any suggestions on how to get the mouse cursor/pointer working would be appreciated. If no one has any ideas I guess I can re flash with OpenELEC-Odroid-C1-6.95.3.0.img

Thanks in advance
Ken

Ya just got to know where to look... ;)

Kodi Settings > System > Input Devices > Enable Mouse and Touchscreen Support...

@kaba-kakao. I think I've compiled that IPTV version for guys with OE on the WeTek Core, I'm not sure if it worked though.

@vdb86, not sure what is going on there with the Permissions issue. Does the same happen with OE Kodi Jarvis ?

I haven't tried it with Jarvis, but that's my next step :)
