Boot.ini file for Odroid C1+ with 800 X 480 touch screen

I was requested to print my boot.ini file here from the touch screen site. Copied below is the boot.ini file:

Try changing vout_mode to "dvi" from "hdmi" if your 800x480 display doesn't work.
setenv vout_mode "dvi"

I changed the the "setenv vout_mode" to "dvi" and all I get is a white screen. When "setenv vout_mode" was set to "hdmi" I got a black screen. The screen is using the HDMI output from the Odroid. Is it possible that this screen will not work with the Odroid C1+?

It is hard to know what is wrong since we don't have the same display.

Can you take a picture of your display rear side?

Can you read the part number of the HDMI receiver IC?
It seems to be a TI's DVI converter IC.

I do not see any marking on the IC located next to the HMDI receiver.

There must be a marking on the Quad flat package (the largest IC on the board).

The big IC is a Texas Instruments TFP401APZP. I was able to get number of the chip by the HDMI receiver with a magnifying glass and it is ATMLH722.

Since TFP401 can accept DVI signal only, the vout_mode parameter must be 'dvi'.

Try this Ubuntu OS image to narrow down root causes. You need to edit boot.ini file too.

I don't think the file listed above is for the C1+. I downloaded the 18.04.3-3.10-mate-c1-20190904.img.xz file and modified the boot.ini file. After that, the touch screen works.

The display is fine. The touch screen seems to work fine, except for the shut down. I'm used to Mint Linux and I'm not sure about the shutdown menu. I touch on the gear icon at the top and a menu comes down with shut down, but when I touch it, sometimes it turns green and nothing happens.

I see. The display seems to be compatible at least.
Let's go back Android.
Capture the boot.ini file on Ubuntu and try Android with a similar configuration.

The Ubuntu file has a lot more entries than the Android file. The only thing that I could see in the Android file was that the the screen resolution was; setenv hdmimode "800X480p60hz". The Ubuntu file had m instead of hdmimode. I changed that and I still get a white screen The blue LED stops blinking after about 10 seconds. If I copied the Ubuntu file would it work for Android?

As far as I know, they have a different kernel configuration and boot.ini is not compatible each other.

Try this boot.ini file with the latest Android 4.4.4 image (v4.5). https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c1/os_im ... droid/v4.5

This seemed to work partially. The display was working through boot up. However it hung up when it displayed: "make yourself at home, you can put your favorite apps here". If I swiped the screen with my finger it would temporally go black. That is the only response that I could get. Thank you for your help so far.

Good to hear it works partially at least.

To improve the system stability, remove J8 jumper if you use the DC barrel jack as a power source.

When I was getting the display, I had not changed the boot.ini file. I just used the self install image. Today, I modified the boot.ini file like the one shown above and all I get is a white screen. I then changed the setenv vout_mode to "hdmi" from "dvi" and I still get a white screen. Is there something I else I could change back in the boot.ini file? Does it appear the self install is not completing and freezing the display?

It is really hard know what's wrong since we don't have the same display. Sorry about that.

BTW, do you use this 5V/2A PSU?

What was the blue LED status when the system hung? Was it blinking like heartbeat?

If your display powered from a C1+ USB port, disconnect it for the test.
Let me know what happens if you connect the HDMI cable to a generic 1080p monitor?

I think the problem I was having was that the circle and icon for shut were not on the screen. I don't think the Odroid was hung up. When I plugged in the monitor with keyboard and mouse every thing worked fine. Then I changed the boot.ini file to "setenv hdmimode "800X480p60hz" and all I get is a white screen and a blinking blue LED on the Odroid.

The problem seems to be screen resolution setting. When you modify it to the "800X480p60hz" you get the white screen. I changed the rest of the settings to the ones you gave me above and I get the same display that is too large for the screen.

I guess that you are using an old version android.

You can download the latest version here.
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-c1/os_im ... droid/v4.5

Try to write and edit like this.

setenv hdmimode "800x480p60hz"
setenv vout_mode "dvi"

Re: Boot.ini file for Odroid C1+ with 800 X 480 touch screen

Have you solved the issue after modifying boot.ini file?
Can you show us your boot.ini file if you still have the problem?

Modifying the boot.ini file does not work. Every modification to the boot.ini gave either a white or black screen. Waveshare offered to send me a screen that they say will work and I should get it Tuesday.

If you can compare this boot.ini with your boot.ini and they are different, you had to use old version.

Code: Select all

I used the the boot.ini file above and I get a display that is a little different. The circle with the six dots is over to the left of the screen. Normally it is at the bottom of the screen. when I touch the icons along the bottom the screen, the screen goes temporarily black, but nothing comes up. For example, if I touch the shut down icon the shut down menu does not come up.

We couldn't reproduce the issue.
Can you make a short video?
Also let show us "lsusb" output on the terminal app command line.
