Freezing after being online for awhile.

I am using USB power as I don't have the barrel connector. The only USB devices plugged in is a usb keyboard and a wifi adapter. the device freezes after ~5-6min and just ends up dying. Touching the board it feels really hot but I can't find my IR thermometer to check it and hardware sensors applet isn't working to read temps.

Anyone else deal with these kinds of issues? I haven't overclocked it, just flashed standard ubuntu on it, no tweaks or anything.

Edit: I flashed the image with etcher as was suggested so I don't know why the temperature sensor is broken.

It's only reading 0.1C and won't update from that which makes no sense I don't know what's going on here.

The sdcard was good because I had previously done a badblocks test on it awhile ago before I reflashed it with etcher.

Which OS image did you flash?

ubuntu-18.04-3.10-mate-odroid-c1-20180726.img.xz

that is the one I used it's overall buggy. I'm going to maybe just get eMMC and hope that that resolves any and all issues with this thing.

The image must be fine.

Did you monitor the CPU temp with cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp

I didn't think to try that, I got a meat thermometer that I have(digital one with probe) and stuck it in the middle of the heatsink and it was only reading ~45-50C when I ran the updates again this time. it didn't hang but I gave up on trying to figure out what's going on.
