Sound settings in Kodi without Pulseaudio

Unread post by tport » Mon Mar 20, 2017 7:48 am

Not sure where to post this issue.

I use an usb sound card that causes the system (linux) to freeze with pulseaudio. After uninstalling pulseaudio (recommended workaround), the sound card works and using speaker-test I have analog surround sound (5.1). However, in Kodi audio settings I have only the S/PDIF version of the card in the list and cannot select analog surround51. Consequently, there is also no option in the Kodi settings to define the number of channels. How can I use this soundcard with analog 5.1 sound in Kodi? In audacious I can perfectly use this sound device, since it appears in the list of available alsa devices.

I have no idea.
Do you run Kodi-17 on Ubuntu 16.04?

No, I use Kodi 16.1, since 17.0 has problems in live-tv.
