VU7 Plus no Touch after update and everything else

Hi! As the title says, I bought a brand new ODROID VU7 Plus from hardkernel site, with a XU4 and I cant make the touchscreen work...
I read in the forums differents solutions wich has me to build 2 o 3 time the image in the SD card.
To improve the question, here comes the details

lsmod -> Show me the dwav_usb_mt
xinput -> Shows RPI_TOUCH by ZH851
The voltage is right, no voltage drops at all.
Yes, I probe differents usb cables, yes I change the HDMI.


I almost convinced about a problem with my software... I update the kernel to this

Thanks for answer!
I already checked that and nothing happens.
In fact I tried to put in true, boot test it and the change it back to false without luck.
Is there any other cfg to initialize the controller or something specific to add/change in the OS?
One more thing, why is this line in boot.ini

Cause I don't know why try it to force somehow to set that driver.

It's the same... When I need to use the touch I need to disconnect the HDMI then the USB wait 3 seconds, connect the USB then the HDMI and it works...
Is there anyway to fix this? Or its necesary in this case turn the XU4 with everything unpluged and after power up and a few seconds connect everything to work ?

One thing you can do for a testing is to enable this line:

It will force the HDMI driver the correct settings.
Try that options with HPD to false

I already have this configuration. You can see the in my boot.ini posted up there.
And still the same, I'm digging to find out the reason.
I'll update when I get more information.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Edit 1:
I tried with this

And hpd false.

Then

After that fails too I tried again

Without luck.
Still the same, it's like it wants to be unplugged but I'm afraid to broke the LCD or something if I'm connecting and disconnecting every time that I want the touch.

As you can see I put your suggestions and tried some alternatives.
I'm new in this stuff and I'm making a research about what is all this configurations. I appreciate your time and help a lot. It's a good way to learn about this stuff.

I'm having some problems to connect a Bluetooth Keyboard too, but it's another history. At the moment I'm interested in make the touchscreen works without make some kind of ritual to give him some kind of sacrifice :lol:

I'll try to make this in order
First, to answer your request:

In the next post I explain better about it, my mistake, sorry about that. The thing is the next:
I install any ubuntu or debian in my SD Card and always with the same hardware (XU4, VU7+, Power Supply, USB Keyboard) I test first at all if the OS can Boot. And I always get a bootable situation, and the screen or in other words, the Image is OK. I have image and I have the right size and everything about the LCD works perfectly. The thing is about the touch. Here's the thing, I turn the XU4 on, everything goes fine, shows up the login screen, and I try the touch, dont work. Even if I login, the problem persist. What I have to get the touch work? Unplug the HDMI, then the USB, wait a second or two, reconnect the USB first and after the LCD turns ON, I connect the HDMI and shows me the Image like always do without any problem.
At this point I have the LCD and the TOUCH working together. But I've made some kind of ritual to make it work, I dont like this epic method, honestly it makes me feel unconfortable the idea of know that if I get a low power situation/electrical shutdown by anyreason, I'll have to make the same to recover the touch and I think it's harmful to the electronics of the VU7+, maybe not but it's what I feel about the situation

If I'm not wrong I see in the file you ask to share an error with the driver of the touchscreen, but I'm very confused, I update to the last kernel version and even I make a clean install again to test everything with a fresh install with all the updates.

Without any luck I can't make it work without make the strange magic movement, I'll keep trying with the configs and looking in that log you suggest to see.

Thanks for testing it and sharing the information.

Based on the result of [1],[2] and [3], we confirmed there is no problem related to HDMI HW side both on VU7+ and your XU4.
Actually, I suspected the event registration process of RPI_TOUCH
but, it looks the process is normal so it's not the clue of this issue.

Can I ask one more?
Do you have another microUSB cable?
Could you check the cable by replacing it with another one?

And I saw your first post that you already tried another USB port of your XU4
and the result is same, right?

Exactly! I tried with different HDMI cable and USB cable, still the same. I tried disconnecting every otrher device even the network cable, no results... It's funny because for some reason if the hdmi can initiate after usb it may work. Or I think it could.
I buyed a eMMC card with a Linux installed from factory so I have to wait for it and test if I'm not wrong with my distro or something like that. In other words I'm suspecting about my way to install and upgrade my linux. In that case I ask if it's correct.
I dowloaded an image from here https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/os_i ... 9/20170824 and updated the image like that link said... no error at all.
So, if it's that the wrong way, well I like to hear some suggestions. Or may be if you can tell me if it's a good idea try another linux distro to test it.
Thanks in advance. In a few hours I come back and will make some probes with some other distro

UPDATE!
After try everything, I restarted the process. I took a new SD card, 16 GB class 10. Formated and clean to begin the implementation
1) I downloaded and installed this version (the latest version in fact) from here https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/os_i ... 9/20170824
2) apt update/apt upgrade/apt dist-upgrade to make sure there's nothing else to upgrade.
3) I didn't modify the boot.ini so I want to probe if something like "out of the box" this work
4) I boot correctly, and wait for the auto turn off. Few seconds later I turn it on.
5) Boot logging looks fine, everything looks good

At this point I'm in the login screen, I have a consistent graphic withouth problems at all except by the Touchscreen.
The problem persist, so it's not about OS, it looks like config or something wrong with the driver or modules/drivers initialization I think.

Hi.
Sorry for late response.

Is it still same when you replace the microUSB cable?

I also think it looks (1) a wrong touch module driver initialization during boot sequence makes this issue.
Or (2) the clue can be a certain HW problem of your VU7+,
or (3) your microUSB is faulty.

But if the (1) is the clue, I think there should be a mark in Xorg or dmesg related to touch driver initialization or input event registration.
And I couldn't produce the issue with my test environment.
Well.... :(

Could you try one more thing?
After power on, try re-load of touch module WITHOUT the force re-connection process of usb and hdmi cable.

I hope we can solve it without any replacement of VU7+ HW.

Joy! Thanks in advance for your help.
I tried the first thing about a new USB cable. I buyed a brand new cable and still death.
Then I tried with the commands without working the touch and still the same.
I wanna be clear with one thing... The proccess I do to connect everything is this:
I take the XU4 with the uSD in the right place with the switch in the correct position and connect in this order the things: HDMI and Touchscreen USB, Bluetooth Dongle, Ethernet cable, and then power up the PSU.
If there's any problem you can tellme... If not, then ok. The thing about that is the next even if I do the ritual of power up and the unplug all the VU7+ and reconnect the usb first after a power off and switch off the PSU the problem still there, no touchscreen after boot.
So after that, after doing all the normal thing we do to connect the touch and the xu4, I tried the touch again... doesn't work.
To answer the request about the use the commands of rmmod and then modprobe, guess what? It doesn't work :lol:
So the final question you ask and, man you are so right with this, what happen if we check the raw data of the touch, and here's the response of the command.
cat /dev/input/event1 | hexdump
nothing there... If there's another way to check the node and data please explain me how to do that, because I don't know.

EDIT:
Is there some commands to turn off the video, like unplug the HDMI with commands and then reload the multitouch module? because if it's possible then I can check if I can do via software what I do with the hardware to make it work. I think is extremly simple thing but I dont know if it will work.
And Maybe today or tomorrow I receive the eMMC card to check if there any problem with the uSD card and the SO. Meanwhile maybe we can check the problem with the response of the command cat /dev/input/event1 | hexdump
because It's weird to have no response at all.

Thank you for checking so many things I requested.

1. rmmod and re-modprobe
The reason why I want to check the sequence is to check if it's related timing or init sequence problem during modules probe on booting time.
But it still doesn't work after the module is re-loaded.

2. event dump

Through the dwav_usb_mt module, touch raw data is conveyed from touch device to the event node, /dev/input/event1.
We've already confirmed that event driver of RPI_TOUCH is registered and the event node is generated during booting.
I'm guessing the touch device from VU7+ doesn't response.
You can have touch data after re-connection of microUSB cable with the hexdump operation.

3. HW or Power Issue
Well, I think there is a HW issue of your VU7+ or power issue caused by heavy current during booting time. :(
Which power supply are you using?

Just keep VU7+ microUSB cable removed during booting time
and after boot is done, then connect USB cable.
I think touch may work.

If you use a normal power supply that supports XU4 on spec,
I think there is an issue on your VU7+.

Joy, thanks again for your support.
After all the request and task you ask me to do, finally I give up... Everything fails.
I have no response even after unplug the usb from the XU4, it's a sad situation cause I have no explanation to my professor with this issue, cause it's a final project to my university, and without touchscreen it's useless.
I tried with a new USB cable, HDMI cable, with an eMMC card, with a uSD card, with the old kernel and the new one, I update everything like the site say, I tried all the combinations possibles of the boot.ini options, I checked every module, driver and event to be sure about the functions of that and still the same.
I buyed from hardkernel the 5V/4A Power Supply EU Plug (http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products ... 4239561365) thinking that's the right PSU to make this work (in fact I check for a voltage drop and I dont see nothing with the scope in the 5V in the usb), and I choosed to buy the VU7+ because the multitouch is the right thing that I need to the design, and unfortunately it doesn't work giving me a very difficult problem to solve. Because I can't send it back to hardkernel to check the hardware cause it's property of the institution they payed for it and I have no chance to make this work with that you suggest about unplug the USB from the xu4 and reconnect after boot.
Still the same, without touch and, if you ask for the ritual thing, yes it still happening the same IF I unplug the HDMI, then the USB touch and reconnect the USB then the HDMI it perfectly work. I have raw data, even in a hot plug.
I'm thinking the way to solve this via software or send an email to hardkernel requesting a new one, cause the university will refuse take the hardware off from the institute, then the custom charges and taxes to send it back to Korea are the same of the touchscreen price and if everything that is covered in a theorical situation when you send it back I have to pay the 60% of the product in taxes. (Yeah, politics here with the electronics really s*cks)
