[SOLVED] How to auto connect to windows 10 server at boot

Unread postby blackd » Mon Mar 20, 2017 1:18 am

After hours of research and tests I can not get the XU4 running 16.04 to automatically connect to a windows server at boot. Has anyone done this and have directions?

Which connection do you mean?
SSH? SAMBA? FTP?

But we have no experience of Windows Server.

I'm using Samba on 16.04 for a windows network/server connection. I can do the manual steps after boot, but want to set it up so that my wife does not have to do this every time at boot.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently
This document describes how to mount CIFS shares permanently. The shares might be hosted on a Windows computer/server, or on a Linux/UNIX server running Samba.

You can also search the internet for "fstab smb" for additional information and guides.

This thread can be closed. I got it working using the link provided by crash https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently Pay attention to the details and correctly name the parameters and it works just great. From that hint you can see where most of my problems resided -- myself and understanding nomenclature.
