Change core cluster numbering in XU4

Unread postby hrexha » Wed Jan 11, 2017 11:05 pm

Hello,
i would like to change the core numbering in Odroid XU4. For the moment i have A7: 0,5,6,7 and A15: 1,2,3,4. I would like to have A7:0,1,2,3.
Is there any way?
Thanks.

What kernel is that with?

CPU 0-3 should be the A7 cores by default, so it sounds like they are coming online initially in the wrong order perhaps?

It is kernel 4.2.0-rc7.

Ah, likely a kernel thing then.

3.10 brings them up in the correct order. Later upstream kernels had a patch to also ensure they came up in the right order but I'm guessing that came after 4.2. It's might be possible to backport that if you were comfortable with compiling the kernel yourself if you wanted to stay on 4.2? I'm not sure if there's any way to do it without addressing how the kernel is bringing them up.

So you are saying that there is no way in reordering with this kernel? Should i install another kernel? No patch to be applied?

It would be prudent to install the 4.9 kernel. It should become the default XU4 kernel by the end of next month I believe is what odroid said, so if you can wait it is coming.
