There are a few bugs in this build. I used dd to do an image backup from 16GB eMMC to 32GB uSD no problem with and without gzip. Using dd to 2 different USB hard drives failed at 300MB on both USB 2 and 3 and the drives hung. Works with Debian. Firewall not working missing ip6tables. Have been using U2 as 247 web server on Fedora 18 for months and worked around some minor bugs. Using LG TV for monitor and works as long as the XU is booted before the TV is turned on. Would like to use Fedora on the XU as it easier then Ubuntu server but need the firewall and to be able to backup to USB HD to use the XU as a web server. Running command openssl speed -multi 4 to stress test the board works fine under this build but when tried with Ubuntu sever 13.07 build it crashed in 20 seconds and powered down.

Cheers for that I'm really glad you managed to find time to do an F19 port.

I had a problem where I chose a BS=4M and this seems to be a bit quick and although it finished OK and no apparent errors the SDCard didnt work I even complained to MDJNR ....
Any way I used the Windows utility that does a verify that worked ... i was so annoyed that I tried a smaller bs=128K and that worked so I'm wondering if the cards or card readers are not beyond a bit of corruption near their maximum speed !

Any way that may help you try a smaller blocksize

I was wondering if you could do a step by step guide of how you did the port or even a Youtube of the build ...Personally I would think this was great .... I know it may not be as popular as a LOL Cat but it would be very useful!

I had a few issues with it but overall it works good.

I created another image after I upgraded fedora to use mate and got ssh to work. Booted a few times just to double check the functionality. At first I could not ssh because the firewall doesn't work right and needed to uninstall it. I could not disable it without removing it.

Issue no 1.

I didn't want the swap partition so I removed it and expanded the other partition, it took a while. It was Ok since I went to the movies while it was busy doing its thing (using gparted on a gentoo linux installation).

The device was still /dev/sdd3 despite /dev/sdd2 being removed. Perhaps it would be better in the future to just not put a swap partition. Those who want it can always add it.

I update fstab to not include the swap partition and proceeded to boot the device. It didn't boot, it looks like it crashed, couldn't get ssh to work
I reflashed the eMMC card with my image which I had created from a 32G micro SD card installation. It worked fine.

Issue no 2

I installed vlc and mplayer. mplayer crashed rather quickly so I decided to try vlc, I made sure I set the output to sdl since that was the only way not to crash the video on the U2. Well! I had to cycle power to recover. It played the video for a few seconds before the deadly crash. The crash was quicker on mplayer but with patience I could eventually do a kill thru ssh, not possible with vlc.

I had deadly crashes with ubuntu with gxine, it was actually worst as I could no longer access some files on the user, even logged as root. A fsck with gentoo fixed the problem.

I would love to have some idea on what the problem is so I could look into a fix.

The film I was trying to play was a recording of the TV movie Alf in mp4 format.

Issue no 3

Actually not related to fedora. I have created a funtoo linux and am trying to figure out how to get the hdmi working. What is the sequence to do? The startup files are different than on fedora and ubuntu.

check the sound settings of the movie, if it is 48000 sample rate then the audio will make your system hang. Only 44100 sample rate is supported at the moment. With mplayer there is a work-around using filters which i have been able to use successfully.

I have tried this Fedora now recently two times from SD card.
My base motivation for it is that fedora is using systemd, so it should be able to do initializing tasks in parallel
and it therfore should also boot faster. Another motivation is to find a distro that I will flash into my 64 GB eMMC and then keep on using it.
When I now write this my aim is not to report any bug or any issue, it is more to share experience, as it may or may not be valuable to someone else.

One should update the kernel image as one of the first steps, because it immediately improves performance and gives proper color space.
If first collected a reperetive boot times at eth0 message from dmesg, and their were varying; 67, 50, and 59 sec.
After kernel upgrade the same time at eth0 message were 30, 40, and 40 sec. So, after kernel uypgrade boot is essentially faster.

The Fedora's window manger does not have measn to create a user, so one must use command line as follows:
#sudo adduser xx
#sudo passwd xx
#sudo su
#visudo, then
add the line:
xx ALL(ALL) ALL

I also installed firefox with 'sudo yum install firefox'. Firefox can paly MP4 video from youtube, but I don't get audio.
Yes, audio comes with some music player, but not from youtube MP4.

One can get boot times with systemd-analyze, for instance as follows:
Startup finished in 6.256s (kernel) + 3.209s (initrd) + 14.224s (userspace) = 23.690s

The image has swap defined unlike other distros, is it really needed?
I also upgraded the whole fedora once. I didn't see what improves or degrades, but there is more log in dmesg output,
and I am not able to evaluate it. So, for me it is better to stay with the version that is in the image itself.
For an advanced user it is possible to upgrade only selected packages, but I am too ignorant to make any slective upgrade.

Thanks for the image, and your information. And note, I didn't report any issue.

On Swap.. When I extract fedora image, Fedora had swap there.. so I decided to keep it..
If the distro says that it needs.. I didn't want to go against it.

As from when you upgraded it.. I think that no issue will happen :) You can safely upgrade it.

Well I think I found some sort of bug. Unfortunately its rather hard to diagnose since, I cant access the bios or boot loader via HDMI.

I have been trying to add some external drives to /etc/fstab by UUID but it seems to never come back up from a reboot after adding those lines to fstab. Up to this point I have always enabled the fsck option, so I will try setting that to 0 and see if it will reboot after adding those lines again.

What normally happens on ARM Boards is that you lose your date/time configurations. When you boot fsck thinks that your hdd's come from the future and must fix it.

When will fedora 20 be available?
It's embracing ARM it seems... I would like to test a fedora 20 image if possible.

The upgrade process "Fedup" will not work to upgrade from 19 to 20, that's
why a "20" image is needed.
