From what I can make out, these are the light's meaning:
  • D4: Solid Red - Defines the status of power supplied to the device. This will be red if the X2 has been connected to power.
  • D6: Solid Blue - The Odroid X/X2 is on. This only relates to the fact that the power button is pressed, and the device is using power.
  • D5: Alternates - This light seems to have the most baring on the status of the Odroid. A consistent blinking is like a heartbeat, meaning the processor has found the boot devices and is booting as usual. It will blink as long as you're in normal operation.

D5 also can be not on, or on constantly. These seem to relate to the status of uboot or the kernel. A off D5 could be that no boot medium had been found and the system has no idea on what to do. A constant on D5 means that something has gone wrong in the booting of the system, where uboot succeeded, but the system is not booting to any kernel.

I'm not exactly sure if I'm right, and anyone feel free to correct me.

D4: Red LED, power is connected, nothing else.
D5: Blue LED: Solid Blue: Bootloaders is loaded. Blinking: Bootloaders loaded the kernel.

Something not really good. Your power supply has some serious problems.

I notice that the Odroid-X/X2 tend to be picky when it comes to SD cards........for example, it won't boot if there is a problem with or bad sector with the SD card.

I plugged my ordroid-x in a wrong power (9V) and now the red led flashes and nothing happens. My ordroid is dead or there is still some hope?

Most likely is dead! If you want to hardkernel offers repair service. Sometimes boards aren't repairable.. or the repair costs will exceed a new board.

If you are interested in those services contact: odroid@hardkernel.com

Hi, I have a new ODROID X2 and have compiled a new kernel for it. After rebooting, it works, but D4 (red) is on, D5 (blue) is off and D6 (blue) is flashing a "blink blink...pause" once a second. Does anyone know what that means?

Yep, I've just done a bit of Googling and it seems there's a kernel config setting or two to control the LEDs and by default it flashes D6 with a "heartbeat" which is a cycle of two flashes, the frequency of which are determined by the current CPU job queue and D5 with a certain trigger, to the bottom of which I have not yet got!

mdrjr I can see you authored that, keep up the good work! :-D
