C1(+) LibreELEC 8.0.0 - Kodi Krypton - 32bit

Unread postby wrxtasy » Tue Mar 07, 2017 5:12 pm

Time to bring the C2's little brother the C1 - under the LibreELEC umbrella with its own thread here in the LE Sub Forum.

This is where OpenELEC and now LibreELEC first started for me - on the C1. Its where I cut my teeth as it were putting out OE releases based on @Zaalare's original C1 - OE repo.

So we have now come full circle back to where it all began with LE 8.0.0 Kodi Krypton on the C1(+)
Krypton runs nicely indeed on the C1(+)

LibreELEC 8.0.0 - Kodi Krypton 17.1 RC
- LE on the S805 limited to 1080p Resolutions only and 8bit HEVC decoding.
- All HardKernel custom Audio code reverted in the Kernel - updated with standard AML Audio code .
- HDMI-CEC control works on the C1+ However there is no Power On from any remote.
- @Popcornmix's HDMI-CEC - Response / Release - HDMI-CEC configuration options added.
(Settings > System > Input > Peripherals)
- Annoying Blue LED extinguished after Power On.
- Annoying CEC Popups silenced
- CPU Overclocking options added to boot.ini file - standard is 1.632GHz
- Far better Audio and Video Sync than LE 7.0.x Jarvis due to excellent LE development from the AML Kodi dev. @peak3d
- A bunch of LE tweaks users will probably not even notice. ;)
- MySQL uses the standard Kodi advancedsettings.xml with Krypton.
- Settings > LibreELEC configurator now has a Lirc (Infra Red) Enable Disable switch - found under Services section.
- Note: HDMI-CEC will not work on the early C1's - mods were needed. CEC on some C1's worked with the addition of a RTC clock battery.

- Password for SSH login --> le

Thank you very much wrxstasy!

Did you test this build with tvheadend and pvr addons?
I've no problem with libreelec 7.0.3 and my usb tuner..
So it should work??

I tried this version on my C1 old one modified with rtc battery . The version runs fast, however I have this problem.

If I press some remote keys, the command triggers the libreelec and the TV at the same time. Any solution pls?

From prior C2 postings I bet you have a Panasonic TV and its remote is sending out IR signals that the C1's Infra Red receiver picks up as well in addition to HDMI-CEC.

Three options:

- tape over the IR receiver with electrical tape or blacklist the IR receiver module from working on the next reboot.

Code: Select all
echo "blacklist meson-ir" > /storage/.config/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
reboot

or:
disable HDMI-CEC in Settings > System > Inputs > Peripherals > CEC Adapter.

Hi,
I have CEC issues since my update to LE from OE. I did a clean install of LE on my C1+ following this tuto and with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.img.gz.
Everything's fine but cec doesn't work at all.. (TV Philips 40pfh4200). Tried to reset TV, unplug, reboot odroid/tv but nothing. I had the same problem with the Jarvis version you gave few day ago here: LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-7.0.3.OClock.tar

It is strange because I used for months your Jarvis OE release and I never had problem with CEC

Anyone has an idea?

Thanks!

Wrxtasy! Thanks for this!

Kind of crazy question. I'm still running your old OpenELEC build on my C1. How divergent is LibreELEC? Can I just have OpenELEC "upgrade" itself to LibreELEC? Think I could get away with dropping this in my updates folder and rebooting, to avoid the unpleasantness of a full setup from scratch?

Always do a OE / LE configurator backup first

Yes you can do that. The safer route may be to upgrade to LE 7.0.3 first with the usual .tar update then update with the LE 8.0.0 .tar

There are migration routines in LE to do this when coming from OE. The boot.ini file is overwritten (to add Overclocking) and the old config saved in the file boot.ini.old

A clean install may be best - just use the old .tar backup to reinstall Addons and settings - see what gives you the fastest setup.

Try grabbing your SD card and putting that in a PC.

Then get a LE 8.0.0 .tar update file and unpack it and Copy the following file to the SD card manually:

boot.ini
meson8b_odroidc.dtb
INITRD
KERNEL
SYSTEM

@ wrxtasy

Please can you help my cec situation also? The remote keypress open TV and Kodi menus at same time. The same happens for example, when I press settings in Kodi, it opens Signal input of the TV.

I think it hasn't anything to do with c1 infrared receiver, I hide the sensor and the same thing happened. It looks like the TV and C1 get both the remote signal.

I have a C1 with rtc battery mod. Can you bring CEC from the previous version pls?

Sorry I cannot use the previous version of LibCEC - it is incompatible with Kodi Krypton.

There can be no LibCEC reversions I'm afraid.

What you can try is doing a LE 8.0.0 .tar update as there will be a different U-Boot version re-installed then that may help.

I can also try changing the CEC implementation to a Recorder setup instead of a player, that may help.

Otherwise simply turn HDMI-CEC off all together. TV manufacturers do not adhere to standard HDMI-CEC implementations. What works for some is busted for others.

So i try an update to LE 8.0.
I had to remove tvheadend before I managed to start krypton. After, a new installation of tvheadend service, krypton restarts loop .... so I returned in 7.0.3 ..

But, this version is a good start..

Hi,

First, thanks wrxtasy for great work.

I tried clean install on new sd card, and on first boot everything works perfectly.
So, I configured libreelec and then do power off (for some reason, blue light remains on, even nothing works).

Then, on next boot system stop on splash screen (with kodi logo and version). I tried power off and on couple times, but got only splash screen.
I did new install on another sd card, and again everything works on first boot, but stop on splash screen on second.

I checked boot.ini, but nothing seems out of ordinary.

Any ideas?

Even I have now been struck down with this issue....

A LOT of Jarvis > Krypton users are having problems across multiple platforms like...

Reproducible problem that at an upgrade K16 -> K17 the screen stucks at Splash "Add-on migration in progress". You need to reboot/restart Kodi to fix it.

http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/17341

Even a reboot would not fix it.

The only way to get past the splash screen for me was to Nuke all the Addons2x.db Database files after a SSH Login and then restart Kodi.
NOTE Addon user data is retained, you are just Nuking the Kodi Addons database index and disabling all Addons.

Code: Select all
systemctl stop kodi
rm .kodi/userdata/Database/Addons2*
systemctl start kodi

Then go into Addons > MyAddons > All > Select Appropriate Addons with an X next to them > Select Update.

Pressing Left and selecting "Check for Updates" may help.

Yes its a PITA !

I'll try this method, it looks more safe ;-).. than my crash procedure : i've done a delete of all the jarvis directory .kodi/ addons, then done one scp from my c2 krypton addons directory..

Regards,

I tracked down what has been hanging Kodi for me - its the new v3.4.91.1 of pvr.hts - TvHeadend client - that Raybuntu has in his RB LE Repo.
I had to to delete the pvr.hts directory to prevent Kodi startup hanging on the splash screen again.

Code: Select all
systemctl stop kodi
rm -rf /storage/.kodi/addons/pvr.hts
rm /storage/.kodi/addons/packages/pvr.hts-3.4.19.1.zip

Sadly, this didn't work for me.
So I try again clean install, but this time I did every customization one at the time. (New skin - power off/on, regional settings - power off/on, install addon - powef off/on...)
And, for some reason, now everything works great.

That said, this is, obviously, Kodi's fault, not this build's.

I'm completely stuned how fast C1+ become. At least for me, CEC is working almost to perfection. And my no name remote, that barely works with complementary cable box, works perfectly.
Great build. Thanks.

Yes it is surprising how quick the C1 is, probably still quicker than a RPi3.

Suggestion - now you have a working setup - Do a .tar backup using the LibreELEC Configurator.

Thanks for the new update.

But here is what I found for a quick setup:
- tvheadend service not working.
- if install docker service then the board will not boot into Kodi (stuck at LibreELEC Logo but still can ssh into it.)

I'm wondering if Hifi shield (the original version) can work with this build? If not, I will have to return to other builds that supports.

Cheers. :D

What is the RTC Battery Mod? I saw it mentioned here, I have a c1 original and I would like to use the CEC functions. Is there actually a workaround or did that person just add a rtc battery and call it a Mod.

EDIT: I was able to peice together that it has to do with bridging C53 with a resistor. Possibly 499k Ohms. In any case I had a pile of old laptops, I pulled them apart until I found a matching RTC battery. It is now connected but still no CEC device found. 2010 Samsung Plasma Smart TV. CEC works with chromecast and PS4. Is there any logs I can view?

I did use the cec fix image you posted.

Another Edit: In the Kodi.log I see an entry that it found the CEC device. Does this mean it deticted the TV or just the presence of the CEC device on the odroid. Is there a CLI way to test?

I had to to delete the pvr.hts directory to prevent Kodi startup hanging on the splash screen again.

Code: Select all
systemctl stop kodi
rm -rf /storage/.kodi/addons/pvr.hts
rm /storage/.kodi/addons/packages/pvr.hts-3.4.19.1.zip
systemctl start kodi

And then install the following pvr.hts-3.4.18.1.zip. make sure Auto updating is turned OFF in the pvr.hts Addon

pvr.hts-3.4.18.1.zip

Thank you for the feedback and the addon. I will do update tomorrow.

Krypton boot without problem now, but service tvheadend doesn't want start... error uuid?? I test several version, without confif... but nothing, no webserver...

Tried with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.tar => no cec
Then with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-7.0.3.OClock.tar => no cec
Then with OpenELEC-Odroid.arm-7.0.0.tar => cec OK!!!
Back with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.tar => no cec...

Omg what is so different!!!

Went and re-checked and a missing part of the CEC Kernel patch had gone walk about, this should fix it:

thanks for the new build may 20 2016 build and below cec was a1 no delay great

this build whilst cec works its laggy and misses imputs all the time
if im lucky 40% of inputs work

another problem is video's buffer all the time if the network port is gigabit
if its 100mbit its fine

the link to the 8 port switch is 1m long from the odroid
the backhaul to the 24 port switch is still gigabit so its not my wiring causing the problem
as the traffic still goes around my house at gigabit
as im only degrading the link to 100mbit for the first 1m

so atm im having to use
ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full in autostart.sh
and a mouse instead of cec

Seems to be trying to force its self as master again btw

AURORA 192.168.0.1 WORKGROUP MASTER
MICROSERVER 192.168.0.3 WORKGROUP
ODROID 192.168.0.44 WORKGROUP MASTER
VOSTRO 192.168.0.31 WORKGROUP

apart from that looking good

Wow, Wrxtasy - C1 with your build is great!

I've tested it briefly with my usual test set and it works very well :D

TV looks much, much better comparing to the OE build

@Shonk,

I've had a look at the smb.conf file again and found the following commented # out:
https://github.com/wrxtasy/LibreELEC.tv ... b.conf#L47

I've changed those to:

local master = no
preferred master = no
os level = 1

There is CEC Adapter Repeat / Input / Delay options in System Settings > Input > Peripherals > CEC Adapter

Also added in this version is a slight change to boot.ini:

Code: Select all
setenv libreelec "quiet"

This corrects the missing SSH Enable / Disable option in LibreELEC Settings > Services

Next I removed Raybuntu's custom LE Repo and am using the standard LibreELEC 32bit Krypton one.
I had a lot of trouble with the TvHeadend client updating itself and hanging Kodi at the Logo screen with RB's Repo.

Can you please post a img version of the latest version, especially the one with cec fix? I am on Android version and want to do a clean install.

The service tvheadend still doesn't work. I test with the official librelec addons. I've no idea. The tvheadend service log stop with no error... did someone test the service?

I've done a new test with tvheadend 4.2... it works

It seems that this build does not support hifi-shield dac. I try to load module but got this:

modprobe: FATAL: Module snd-soc-pcm5102 not found in directory /lib/modules/3.10.96

Also no option to enable odroid-dac in boot.ini file anymore.

Re: C1(+) LibreELEC 8.0.0 - Kodi Krypton - 32bit

Unread postby entr » Fri Mar 17, 2017 2:51 am

Just wanted to report back that I successfully updated my system from openELEC to LibreELEC by first updating using tar to LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-7.0.3.OClock.tar then again using tar to LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.tar . No problems at all but I don't have that much addons in my setup.

@wrxtasy RESPECT! Do you have a github repo for the project? I would love to try compiling myself and learn from it.

I seem to be having an issue with something but I can not find a cause. In my log I am getting this error:

ERROR: CAESinkALSA - snd_pcm_writei(-32) Broken pipe - trying to recover

It only happens when I am in the menus. Random intervals but about 40 - 60 per minute. I am not noticing any audio issues. Menu navigation and playback are fine. I am using an original C1. I was trying to get the CEC working but I tried disabling it with no change. Any idea how to stop this? Its making my logs hard to read.

Thanks,
Joe

First of all: Thanks to wrxtasy for his great work

LibreELEC8.0 works like a charm on our "old" C1
But I can't get IPTV-Simple to work. I can't find it in the Repo, and my old Plugin does not work with krypton.
Can anyone of you help me, to get it working?

edit: I got it. I found it in the RayBuntu Repo

@wrxtasy: I encounter audio synchronization problems for iptv (hd) with the tvheadend client. I had no problem with jarvis. The client is also much slower ( Connection time to flow). Is this a kodi problem? Codec? Or the addon

Hi,
I'm italian: sorry for my bad english. I installed LibreElec on Odroid C1+ without problems but it's impossible to install any build. I tried dimitrology, ares wizard, fusion etc etc but the error always is "Can't install due to "addon does not have correct structure". What do I have to do? Thanks

Tried with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.tar => no cec
Then with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-7.0.3.OClock.tar => no cec
Then with OpenELEC-Odroid.arm-7.0.0.tar => cec OK!!!
Back with LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.tar => no cec...

Omg what is so different!!!

Went and re-checked and a missing part of the CEC Kernel patch had gone walk about, this should fix it:

LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.cec.fix.tar

you are good man :) thanks it's ok now !! :)

Hi hugo86e,

I observed the same behaviour regarding the versions. For me it worked also only with 7.0.0. Unfortunately the LibreELEC-Odroid_C1.arm-8.0.0.cec.fix.tar does not work for me. What TV/AVR are you using?

I have an LG TV and a Denon AVR. None works with 8.0.0, also not with the fix.

The trace is full of these lines:

Code: Select all
[amlogic] ##### cec write error! #####

@wrxtasy: I attached a logfile with the dmesg output. It contains two times the connection to the TV and once to the AVR. Perhaps you want to have a look in it. I'm also OK with 7.0.0 - everything works almost fine for me. I only have sometimes some video dropouts. But I thought you're interested in.

BR,
Arben

Hi,

I observed that the problem is not completely resolved for me too.
Sometimes it's working and another day it's not and I have to use a remote app with my smartphone :/
My TV is a Philips 40pfh4200/88.

Keep me informed if you find a solution ;)
